It is a scientific fact that yeast and hops completely prevents all forms of DOMS and muscle strains, which is why lately I have made that my post-workout nutrition of choice.
Hey, for some of the old-school strongmen, it was pre-workout and intra-workout nutrition!
Interesting beer commentary here. Regarding training, if you like cable workouts, a good set of bands produces nearly the same effects. Formerly a “band snob”, this mess has converted me.
A wide (2.5 inch) band feels like l00 lb weight stack for tricep work, I think. Lesser widths provide good shoulder and arm workouts.
I had two 16 oz cans of the stone and then switched to my Busch Light. I like the heavy stuff but can’t drink much of it.
In my case, it numbed the strains for a bit.
I’ve shopped bands before but just couldn’t see myself using them enough to justify the purchase. I’m sure now is not a good time to buy, either.
Precisely the science I was referring to. Good news is that linear increase in consumption improves healing powers exponentially!
And while we are on the subject, I like my beer pitch black and at least 7% alcohol. You can almost chew it.
I’m a big fan of stouts and oatmeal stouts. IPA’s are just too hoppy for me. Arrogant Bastard and the even worse Double Bastard are just hoppy to the point of absurdity IMO, for the sake of being hoppy, sort of pretentious really, like ‘we’re more hoppy than anyone else, look at us!’ I do have some friends who really like it, so to each their own, I guess.
The best way I’ve had my opinion of IPA’s described was from a webcomic: " An IPA smells like I am standing next to a man who is urinating in a newly mown field. As he urinates, he explains to me a topic I already understand. I can’t get him to stop."
We don’t know each other, but I have a feeling we could be good friends.
I kinda feel the same way about IPAs, although once in a while, and a really good quality one…sure. But only one. And as a general rule, as the percentage goes up, so does my level of “like”. I rarely drink anything that isn’t dark, but a 10% ale? Hells yeah.

Good sir, I salute you.
Hey man, is it safe to assume you have a chest freezer for your bulk beef purchases? We’re planning on investing in half a cow and I’m wondering what kind of storage space I’ll need.
Yep. I think ours is a pretty standard size. You might need more space if you get a half. Mine is 80% full and I just got 1/3. My order was about 144 lbs of packaged meat.
Probably so. If you’re ever in eastern Kansas let me know, I’ll buy the beer! Of course, I only live about 80 miles from J and I’ve never met him either, I sort of stay in my own bubble unless I’m travelling to get together with family, which hasn’t happened much recently.
For all intents, I am on the exact other side of the world. But hey, you never know!
Ah, I saw the American flag shirt on the dummy in your profile pic and assumed you were in the states. Aussie? Or Expat living somewhere in southeast Asia?
I am an American living in Denmark.
Denmark? Ah, you’re only 6 time zones away. Haven’t been there but it’s on my bucket list to sail there once I retire and get another sailboat. I’ve been to every continent (except Antarctica), but some only tangentially. My only hits to Europe were the Canary Islands which only sort of counts, and Sicily, while I was in the Navy. I have a good friend who lives in Sweden, he went to high school with me as an exchange student. I want to hit all the European countries that have a coast, though.

My nutrition over the 15 hours prior to this session was beer and banana bread and I felt great! I think I’m going to skip Tuesday’s session and go for 500 on Friday. I gotta be close.
Awesome. Way to go man, great to see.
Looked easy too - Great work!
Love the way the little one just casually cruises in at the end there
