Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

I only know of a handful of processors around here, but you can call them and tell them you want a 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 or more of a beef and they’ll put you on a list. I think they play middle man for the customer and farmer. There will definitely be a wait, but you wouldn’t want it any other way. Being on the list means you get it fresh. I don’t think any of us want to hear that they have whole cows in the cooler waiting to find a home.

My favorite part was the thick cut ham steaks. Those were gone in about two weeks.

We’ve done the 1/2 pig and 1/3 cow as well it’s a whole lot of meat. Nowadays we go to the butcher a bit more expensive but it’s fresh every time.

Built for bad was a great one I remember it very well. I crashed and burned after 5 or 6 weeks but it’s not supposed to be run for much longer. Great program.
Do you have two barbells?

Squat - OHP same bar, DL-rows-floorpress the other, that’s how I would put it up should I run it now. A bit of plate changing but it could be done.

I have two bars. Barbell OHP doesn’t feel good on my shoulder but DBs feel great.

I won’t do floor press again. That was what inflicted my first major biceps tendon injury. That exercise also does absolutely nothing for me.

I’m not sure I could manage the plate changes in 60 seconds. I might be able to manage the a squat/incline combo by racking the bar low for the squat. DB OHP isn’t a problem. The deadlift and row would be the only issue.

I might be able to pull it off. Thanks for the motivation.

Now the assistance circuits, on the the other hand, will be a problem. One of them has barbell curls, lying SA DB extension, DB lat raise, and DB hammer curl. My adjustable DBs take too long to change the weight because the collar is threaded. I’ll have to change an exercise on that one.

You could try front squat and RDL, if you’re so inclined. Fewer plate changes.

Do you have bands for some of the assistance? Or you can use 25# plates for things like side raises.

That’s interesting about floor press. Shows our individual structures - I have no issues with it, and it’s actually comfortable for me.

If my plates work out for lateral raises or anything else then I’ll use those. I already do that for drop sets.

Floor press never bothered me until that one rep. I think I was doing it for The Complete Power Look. It doesn’t really do much for me so it’s in the “low reward and that hurt me one time” category.

Oh, and I have some small, tube style bands. I could use those as incremental weight adjustments.

I changed the back rest position last week. I had it one notch below vertical because that’s how I do it on Smith OHP. I decided to move it up to see how it felt. There’s no pain so I guess there’s no reason to let my pecs help more than is necessary. The end result is that I’m weaker and need to drop the weight.

Time: 1:17 for the lifting. I moved slower than usual and that was fine. My daughter did some stuff at the start so I was helping her between sets.

How’d you find a farmer?

I grew up in a smallish town so that helped. My dad has known the family who provides our beef for as long as I can remember. If I didn’t have any connections then I’d find a local butcher shop and go ask them if they could help me. At the very least, they’ll point you in the right direction.

Great form J, looking good, strong and easy.
Yeah when you get to 3’s things starts to ease up a bit, at least conditioning wise, with the higher rep phases I was breathing like an old freight train.

Lots of good vids in here, and lots of good lifts to go with them. Your clean form is really good, roughly 8 million times better than mine. Do you ever press them as well?

I rarely do a press with them. I’m too tall to press in my basement. When things are good I’m usually cleaning way more than I can press. I’m barely having to dip to catch the bar right now. I’m taking it slow for my shoulder’s sake.

Well, I’ve been spending a lot of time organizing cases and identifying the bad guys and I finally finished up this morning. I have three suspects directly connected to two burglary to auto cases. I have their names and I’ve organized their crimes into a manner that makes sense. One is on probation and I’m trying to get a warrant for violating it. One is on parole and I’m trying to do the same to him. The third is unsupervised but I’ll still charge him with what I can. For now, I’m just waiting for the warrants to be issued. I’m hoping to go hunt them down next week and send them on a summer long vacation at the county jail.

On a training related note, it’s rest day and I’m probably not going to do any cardio. It’s 3:40 pm and I still haven’t eaten anything. Energy is not high. It’s my Friday at work and I’m kind of winding down. I need to go to the store and pick up my 40 lbs of chicken breasts and 6 lb ham for Sunday’s lunch (just the ham, not the chicken).
