Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

I was only pulling your chain (a little) mate. I have no idea what your upper body capacity is post surgery and PT. You know what you are doing so I trust you are chasing down your goals in the best way possible. In truth all this talk of Meadows and bodybuilding training made me think about how I used to train and miss it a little. Strength is still the focus for now but reminded me that it has been a while since I had a break from it and did some hypertrophy work. I need to add a block of hypertrophy back in later this year for sure.

I believe some people on here ran it, with success, without Plazma and just maltodextrin or something.

It’s like anything else. Supplements aren’t “mandatory”.

He does have some pretty fun “athlete” workouts on his youtube you could throw in for your lower body days after you hit your deadlift goal. Then he has a billion upper body workouts

I’m not convinced that one needs intra workout nutrition, but i lose interest when a workout article says the readers needs to take XYZ to succeed.

I’ll probably keep watching his videos because they’re a good distraction when I’m on the elliptical. My back workout will have a lot of his stuff for the foreseeable future. It’s also hard to disagree with his shoulder session since it has so little pressing.

That’ll be good for your shoulder. I don’t think strength work has to stop at low reps. Getting a strong 8 and 10 RM will carry over.

Just wanted to drop an update about yesterday’s shoulder work. Even though it was less than I planned to do, my delts are tender to the touch today! A good ol fashioned drop set on lateral raises worked just fine. How bout that @ChickenLittle?

Well, weight maintenance is a failed endeavor today. I’m trying IF and I can do it, but last night blew it. Work took a wild turn and I ended up eating pizza for dinner at 8 pm.

We’ve been working a special project at work. My role has been a support role and I’m fine with that. The cool guys and gal have been following our target in rental cars and tracking him with GPS (got the warrant a few weeks ago). The target is a serial car burglar and he works fast. He smashes windows, grabs purses, and he’s gone. Luckily, he likes to shop with the stolen credit cards. My job has been connecting him to car burglaries and the subsequent credit card use.

Well, yesterday they caught him red handed. It was thrilling but it put us on the clock. We spent all day today doing paperwork and connecting the cases so we can bury him. He’ll probably take a plea deal but it’s not his first time. He’s going back to prison for awhile, but we have to organize everything for a trial.

Oh, yeah. I forgot where I was going with that. I bought Little Caesar’s pizza for lunch today because I was in a celebratory mood! I’m knocking on the door of 4000 calories today. Oops.

But I’m still in my IF window!

TREADMILL WALK

Fueled by guilt. Distracted by Meadows video that I shared in CL’s log. I might’ve burned off two bites of food.

I ate two big ass tacos the other day, and I was going to come here with a story about how my family was being attacked by midget ninjas and the only way to save them was to quickly ingest 1000 calories of taco-y goodness to fuel my defensive rage, but then I read your story and thought “nah”.

Great that you got the guy, sounds like your having quite a bit of success recently!

Just chalk the pizza up as a necessary refeed and be guilt free!

Eh. That stuff doesn’t bother me. I get your point, but I think the info is the info either way

I used plazma for two consecutive years. I do not think it’s nearly as beneficial as they proclaim. Eat in a surplus and you’re going to be fine. Plazma may give you an extra .35%, and, an empty pocket.

Nothing against those that use it, I did. I even got to the point to where I was mentally addicted to it. If I didn’t have it, I had already accepted I was going to have a bad training session.

When I noticed this was happening, I immediately dropped it and all intras. Just water now.

That’s all? That’s just a big meal for me. No guilt involved.

I definitely looked filled out last night. Only up 0.3 lbs today!

That particular article specifically said that people who didn’t use the supplement ended up wrecked after the first week and couldn’t do the program.

I don’t think anything is worth the money with the exception of two things. Protein powder helps me get my macros because I really like carbs and it’s easy for me to eat 1000 calories and 20g of protein. And creatine has actually been scientifically proven to work.

Anything else I take is usually just for fun and it’s short term.

Today’s my first shoulder day in about a month… hopefully I’ll get some decent DOMs. Got a tough session planned and itching to get after it.

Not really workout supps but I’d say a multi vitamin and 5000 iu of D3 are worth it. But yeah protein and creatine are top of the list

I took D3 for awhile, but I don’t know why. I’ve seen people talk about it around here, but I don’t really understand what it’s supposed to do. Am I deficient in vitamin D? No. Is it supposed to make me feel different/better? I didn’t notice anything.

D3 has a variety of benefits but for the natural lifter it especially helps support testosterone production… I see a noticeable difference in my labs when I take it. Probably 100ish points

Ordinarily no guilt, but I am sorta cutting weight. Normally two tacos is not enough tacos.

But I think this gives you two options:

  1. Recognize it as marketing, so it has no bearing on the information
  2. Believe it to be fact, in which case we now have to believe supplements are necessary

In any case, I’m not really arguing; I just don’t really pay attention to that part. Some intraworkout carbs has been beneficial for me in terms of convenience, but that’s just a timing thing.

You really put this that high? Do you live somewhere cold, or is it always important? I’m totally ignorant here.

I thought it was high too, my TRT doc wanted me there. Over time his office got super busy and they were becoming much less responsive so I changed providers. Coincidently I ran out of D3 and stopped taking it. First thing new provider told me after labs was that 5000 iu D3 needs to go back in the regimin. I just try to listen to my doc unless my body tells me otherwise.

For example my old doc was very progressive Ana’s would gladly write me 500mg of test a week. I feel much better on 200 so I don’t follow his script. But with the d3 I feel great on 5000 so I do it if that makes any sense.
