Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

That really sucks about your shoulder!! “It came to pass.” Trials are rough, whatever form they come in.

On a happier note, merry Christmas!!

That suck,
I don’t know much about injured shoulder, but I worked with many horses with ligament and tendon injuries.

They are long to fix, we use a lot of ultra sound and shock wave. We also use PRP.
Rest is the key point for most of them.

Hate it. You’re worse off than I realized. I’d take that MRI and get a second opinion. I’d also be weary of the first surgeon, even though he was highly touted. I don’t see how that much damage occurred through PT and post surgery training.

I know 3 people who have had shoulder surgery in the last 60 days. Something’s going around and I don’t want any of it!

Merry Christmas. You’ll see yourself out of this with some time.

I’m currently working a part time job at a bank and chatting with an employee who just had her seventh knee surgery. She was born without an ACL in her left knee. It took three surgeries for her to have a successful ACL reconstruction…and then she was in a car crash that destroyed it.

My luck isn’t so bad. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yep. There’s always someone worse off that’s for sure.

My pastor says there’s someone in your life who you think has it all. A better job, more money, a better family life, whatever. Just know that to someone else your that person. Really makes you think

Hey J that was an unpleasant christmas gift, I’m really sorry to read it.
On another note Merry Christmas to you and yours, and I do sincerely hope that 2020 will turn out good for your health, you’ve been struggling enough.

I spent the majority of my day working in the coffee shop at church. It’s 100% volunteer staffing and there were three Christmas Eve services today. I worked from 12:30-6:30 and enjoyed every minute of it. I spent the whole day on my feet and I’m worn out, but I’d do it again. Volunteering is meant to be an act of service but I’m the one receiving a blessing.

Let the chaos ensue in T minus 15 minutes! At that time, the first of approximately 50 people will begin to arrive at our house for the day long celebration of family and most importantly, our Lord and Savior’s birth!

Well, I haven’t trained since last Wednesday and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t throwing a bit of a pity party about my current physical condition. I had the sinus infection a few weeks ago, stomach flu Friday night, and I have another infection/virus that arrived two nights ago. Throw in the three possible torn parts of my shoulder and I just don’t really feel like doing much. I also don’t really give a damn.

DB BENCH
65 x 10 x 2

DB INCLINE
60 x 10
55 x 10

HIGH INCLINE DB PRESS
50 x 10
45 x 10

6 WAY RAISES
5s x 15 x 2 sets

This took about 22 minutes. I just did two sets at each setting on the bench. I don’t like flat bench so my regular DB bench is actually one notch up from flat. The next two holes turned out to be my usual incline and high incline set up. I can’t press with the back rest any higher than that so that was the end of that progression. For now, I’m just going to do whatever I feel like in the moment. I’ll be sure to rotate body parts, but I’m not really writing out a plan and I don’t care about any particular split. Who would’ve thought that I’d come to dislike upper body day?

I feel you. When you’re hurt it’s hard to find motivation. Take some time as you figure things out.

The iron will still be there when you return.

Aaaaand I have another bacterial infection. Just got back from Immediate Care and I’ll be picking up my antibiotics in a bit.

My shoulder has not felt good since yesterday’s pressing session. I have pain with normal movements in various places. I have PT today and I’m sure we’ll do some trial and error.

Considering my time and effort at PT, I’m convinced I’m going to be having another surgery in 2020. I’m hoping to have it done by the end of January. My T-ransformation will be training with both arms and no limitations by June.

I’ve also decided to chill out if I have surgery. I’m going to try to wait until I’m fully released to use my right arm in the gym. I’ll just do my PT stuff.

I’ve done some research and learned the following.

  • the biceps is supposed to help with humeral depression (mine isn’t)
  • a split tear of the biceps tendon can be caused by impingement between the head of the humerus and acromion
  • a tear in the infraspinatus can be caused by impingement between the head of the humerus and acromion

@studhammer told me his doc trimmed his acromion during his biceps tendon surgery to help prevent this impingement. My doctor did not do that. I wonder if that’s the culprit.

Brother, based on your MRI results, I think there is more going on than the acromion impingement. I think that either: (1) your original diagnosis was incomplete, or, (2) you had some weak spots that you injured during PT.

Either way, I lack confidence in your current surgeon. These should have been identified by the first MRI or, he should have done some looking around while you were on the table.

He did. I have the photos. He even checked out his work from 2004 to see how it was holding up.

Well shit! You know what’s ahead of you since you’ve been down this road before.

Since you are a cop, I won’t tell you to get on GH right after your next surgery to help you heal faster and better. I did plus my TRT and the Doc injected stem cells during surgery to aid in healing.

Good luck and keep us posted on the follow-up

Woke up at about 12:30pm and I finally feel rested. We have a small entertainment district here called Old Town by the locals. It’s a small collection of bars and clubs in an area that’s about three blocks by three blocks. We’ve had shootings and homicides at closing time in the past so there’s an increase in officers at closing. Someone had the idea to use the special units to help with this. So for the next three months (and possibly longer), my unit gets to work down there every fourth Friday. Our usual hours are 0800-1800, but we have to work til 0300 for this. Half the team is off on Fridays. To make it worth our while, they’re allowing us to work from 2100 til the crowds are gone (around 0200-0300). We work for 5-6 hours but get paid for a full 10 hour day.

I was home but 0215 last night. I woke up at 0700 coughing. I took some Nyquil (didn’t realize the time) and went back to bed. My wife put her new weighted blanket on me when she got up and I slept hard til 1230. Those things are no joke!

On a training related note, I think I’m going to just do whatever I feel like on any given day plus The Daily Dose of Deadlifts.

It’ll allow me to focus on deadlift as well as doing something most days of the week. I’m feeling incredibly lazy as of late and I’ll feel better even if I only lift for 10-15 minutes.
