Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

Dude I wanted one of those isolator fitness bags so bad. Dropped all kinds of hints to the wife (it was around a holiday), some dude at GNC store talked her into another bag that sucks. One day I shall have the isolator

I’ve been on a lunch box journey. I started with the 6 Pack Innovator 300. I traded that to a co-worker for the 500. Last year I bought the Expedition and sold my Innovator 500. A co-worker at my temporary spot told me about the 6 Pack Voyager. It looked awesome so I tried to find it but no luck.

This may not be the Voyager but it still has more space than the Expedition. I’m glad it doesn’t have the patented shelves. I’m no longer limited to the 6 Pack 20 oz containers. The big containers that came with this are 38 oz and I got 18 extra 20 oz containers.

Hate when that happens </3

I’ll have to catch up with the rest of your log, but I’ve been having the same thoughts. As the Bible says, “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:8, NIV)

So I’m wondering how best to invest my time, both of thought and activity. Thinking about workouts and exercise isn’t bad, but there are other things to consider, too. Exercising is good, but it has relatively short-term value (this life), and I’ve been thinking I want do the lasting, good works God prepared for me while I’m able to.

Dude it’s so bad. Luckily I’ve darkened the door enough now that the two main guys keep their mouth shut about all the gainz I’m missing out on :joy:

Woke at 210.6 lbs and I was thrilled to see that. I’ve had a couple of bad days of nutritional choices. I need to pull my head out of my rear for sure today.

Just now getting caught up on logs. As usual you have eaten cake, cookies, and ice cream… enjoyed life and still managed to stay right around 210! Your doing it right man

I’ve noticed that as well. See lots of posts saying he’s enjoying himself with food and also staying the same weight :joy:. I have to be careful what food I LOOK at let alone eat.

It’s a balancing act! I’ve started paying more attention to carbs. I’m not counting but if I have a high day then it’s followed by a low day (ideally on a non-lifting day).

I’m trying to keep carbs low on non-lifting days so I can boost them on training days. At the very least, it’ll keep me from getting diabetes! :joy:

Woke at 210.2 lbs. I have an interview first thing this morning for our Community Policing team. This is my fourth attempt. This is the unit that focuses on crime trends and community problems instead of just responding to 911 calls.

The grading matrix changed and each question is actually worth points. The old method had the panel members give us a score for a range of categories after the interview. I hate that crap because it’s not objective. They couldn’t tell you that you had a right or wrong answer.

I’m also one of the first people to go which has hurt me in the past. They hold back on scoring. If they were to give me the highest score for a category then they couldn’t reward someone for being better than me later in the day. I hate the whole process but it’s what we do for everything.

I’m currently #3 on the current list and there’s one opening on the unit. Today’s interview process will create a new list and the current one won’t be used after this month. I could move up on the list and improve my place but I haven’t done well on these in the past so I’m struggling to be optimistic. It just seems like the list goes in order of seniority.

The new matrix will have 80 points possible.

  • 50 pts for the interview
  • 20 pts for seniority (I get 3.7ish)
  • 10 pts for education (I get 8)

If I did perfect on the interview then I can get a 61.

A guy with 10 yrs on the department gets 6.66 pts for seniority. Someone with 15 years gets 10 pts. It’s an uphill battle.

Good luck man, when do you find out the results of the competition? My fingers are crossed for you!

@littlesleeper, @dagill2, thanks! My interview went pretty well. I could’ve done better. I made an educated guess about what I should study and missed the mark a bit.

I’ll find out my score today. I might find out where I finish on the list today but they treat this stuff like it’s top secret. They send the results to command staff for approval. Last time they wouldn’t tell us how we finished until it was approved.

They seem to be waiting to fill the openings so who knows how the year will play out.

Really hoping for you to get that spot J. I’m certain it’s one of the best and most rewarding places to be if you really care about it.

100 x 10 ea

SA 45* PULL DOWN/ROW
50 x 10
80 x 35 Grip failing/burning and too light.
100 x 20
120 x 15
120 x 10
Each set had a minute of rest before the next one. I just couldn’t get the weight dialed in. My grip starts to fade fast when I do SL RDLs because I have to use my left hand to hold the weight for both sides. That didn’t help.

SA CABLE ROW
70 x 15, 10, 7 (2 worse than last time)

INCLINE DB CURL
25 x 13, 8, 7

SA REV CABLE CURL
30 x 15, 10, 8

I’ll be taking progress pics at 6 weeks post-op (when I lose the sling) and again when I get fully released around the 12 week mark. I guess the goal is maintenance for most parts and a bit of growth in left arm and calves.

I think I got the top score on the interview! They won’t release the list until the brass approves it, but my co-workers and I do our best to figure it out amongst ourselves anyway. From the info I’ve been given, I think I’ll achieve my goal of staying in the top 3. I could be wrong though; I can’t count on anything yet. Hopefully we’ll find out tomorrow. One of my old sergeants works with the guy who had to run the process and he sent me a text saying I set the curve on the interview.

Woke at 211.2 lbs. I was a bit of a fatty yesterday. I just kept eating. It was almost forced. But it was a training day and I’m making up for it today. My two work lunches are mixed steamed veggies and shredded chicken. Today will be a low carb day. I’ll walk on the treadmill at some point and I have PT this afternoon.
