Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

How’s your fibre intake?

Tattoo looks great. I’m slightly confused about the colour scheme here though…

Oh, is that red just irritation/swelling? Why the blue stripe?

Fiber usually isn’t an issue, but my vegetable intake has been garbage lately. I’ve been eating what’s readily available which is usually meat and starches.

The red is swelling/irritation. The blue stripe is for The Thin Blue Line. It’s a police thing. Here’s The Thin Blue line flag.

That’s also why my old Punisher avatar had the blue stripe in it.

This makes more sense. After I wrote that I actually Googled “American Flag with Blue Line” and found this. Confusion over.

At first I was thinking he mixed up the red and blue! I’m glad that isn’t the case.

Woke at 246.3 lbs. I’m guessing it was dinner last night. We ate out at a steakhouse and I’m sure it was a bit heavy on the salt.

I felt like crap again. I think it’s the pre workout. It used to make me sick and somehow I forgot that little detail. I skipped Farmers Walks again because they’re hard and I don’t have the energy today. I quickly dropped those last time I ran this and started getting beat down but I lasted longer than 2 weeks :joy:

It would appear that running aggravates my hip. It feels all jammed up and stiff afterwards. I’m also already starting to feel stiff/sore from tonight’s session…

A positive observation… Some of the muscle tightness in my QL area is gone after the tissue work performed by the chiro. I’m bruised but it’s worth it.

Maybe start out a bit more conservative with the running. Do 5 x 80 m in like 20 seconds, I know it’s not fast and not much, but it could be a bit less hard on the hip.
Or stop running, but that may not be an issue for us.

Yeah, stopping running isn’t an option. Prior to surgery the doc gave me three options:

  1. Avoid things that hurt and move on
  2. Injection to see if it relieved the pain
  3. Fix it and continue living my life the way I like

Obviously, I picked option 3 but that hasn’t worked out the way I’d hoped. I had some shining moments there in June from SGSS but here I am spending another year training around pain.

And I did start out a little easier on the running. My usual workout of running the straightaway and walking the curve is the same workout but I run slower and rest a bit less (usually 40-45 seconds between runs).

Woke at 243.2 lbs. I didn’t eat enough yesterday. Who would’ve thought this fat guy would struggle to eat enough? I guess it’s the part about trying to eat healthy-ish foods. I could crush some pizza, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, etc..

Woke at 244 and change but I don’t consider it an accurate morning weight because I only slept for 3.5 hours.

I signed up for a part-time job at a baseball tournament. Initially I was supposed to work from 6-10pm. That wasn’t bad. They added a concert and fireworks after the game to celebrate the final year of the tournament at our stadium. They’re destroying it after this season and building a new one.

They asked me to stay until midnight and I agreed. I figured I’d be alright on 5 hours of sleep for one work day. Well, I didn’t get done til 2 so now I’m running on a nap that was way too short. I tried to take the day off but we’re below minimum staffing already. Go figure. No one seems to want to work Sundays.

No plans for today. I’m craving pizza and just want to survive the work day.

Grab a couple slices hoss, will make the day go smoother I’m sure.

It’s funny… when I have a bad day or feel like crap I crave pizza. It’s my emotional craving, I guess

“Fuck life, this sucks, I want pizza.”

Those that know me know that I can be pretty hard on obese people (not to their face, of course). It’s because I have the cravings of a 500 lb man and I ignore them. If I can stay disciplined then so can everyone else so I have no sympathy.

This is a thing. Last spring/summer I was pushing my running hard and squatting twice weekly. It did not go well. First issue was hips, which is the first time I’ve ever had a hip issue. Since I’ve mostly scrapped the running, it’s cleared up drastically.

Try the captain Morgan planks. They really do make my hips feel good before lower body sessions. They do a good job of strengthening the hips/add/abductors.

That tat is absolutely awesome. I would love to have one down my arm like that but I’m worried I won’t be able to get a good job when I’m older lol. I think you’re doing it right by securing the job and then getting a tattoo once you’ve proved your worth. I think people generally look down at young guys with tattoos… idk

Thanks!

I have five now and they can all be hidden by a decent short sleeve shirt. We have to cover them at work and so far I haven’t had to wear the flesh colored sleeve.

I think it’s silly to be judged by them but it happens. My rule is to make sure they can be hidden by a suit but that pretty much only rules out my hands, neck, and face.

I like tattoos and I still judge people at first glance. It’s human nature. I think the choice of what you put on your body also sends a message.

If I were to put skulls and demons on my shoulder then I think people would view me differently.

All good points. One of my dad’s friends is ~45 years old and didn’t get any tattoos until he was about 35. He’s legitimately one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met, but he’s got tats creeping out of his shirt onto his neck and knuckle tats on his fingers. Not to mention a calf tattoo and forearm tattoo, and who knows what else. They’re all cool tattoos for sure, and I’d love to be inked like that, but he doesn’t work in an office/formal setting so it works for him.

He’s a traveling PT and he does house calls on the south and west sides of Chicago (the “bad” parts). If he wasn’t wearing scrubs, he would definitely get shot at or killed for being a tatted up white dude in the wrong neighborhood. It doesn’t help that he’s about 6’1" ~240 either… legitimately one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met, and also one of the biggest. If he threw a punch he could send someone back in time. He’s an absolute unit. And I judged him hardcore the first time I saw him lol

I don’t mind people being judgemental. It’s what keeps us safe. You can’t blindly trust a stranger regardless of how they look. Life teaches us lessons and we use that knowledge moving forward. I don’t care if you call me judgemental as if it’s a bad thing. I’m okay with it.

Well obviously but everything else just says, “Hi! I’m your friendly neighborhood policeman. How can I assist you today, Sir or Ma’am?”
