Just Another Log

Thanks man! I attribute it to a lot of things. Some of it is probably just genetics. But I’ve heard in numerous sites people with big squats always say its hard to go from 225 to 315 and from 405 to 500. But from 315 to 405 people seem to get there “easily” (term is subjective). But once I hit 405x10 for a top set, no more going up in weight for me. If I can do 405x10 for the next 30+ years of my life I’d be happy lol. Just going to really start pushing the reps with weights in the 300s.

I can see some just ridiculous Tom Platz esque workouts in your future after that 4 plates for ten falls. My quads are sore just thinking about it lol. But I had never heard that about squats improving faster at certain weights rather than others, but makes sense that there could be a sweet spot for improving strength with certain lifts.

On a side note I feel you on the just having certain maximum weight goals. I care far more about being athletic than I do about crazy 1rm maxes. After I hit 405 in a back squat I’m gonna chase a 405 front squat and then I’ll probably just use bulgarian split squats for the rest of my life after that.

Now that would be a MONSTER front squat!

So I hit 405x2. Never been so proud in my life!!!

The reason I went for 405 is because 385 fucking flew like nothing. But the 2nd rep of 405 was a straight grinder .

I’ll put up vids once I get up the nerves to ask someone to record me lol. Soon enough tho.

I’m actually 178 lol.

I just want to personally thank @Evolv @T3hPwnisher @flipcollar @ActivitiesGuy @MarkKO . You guys are honestly the reason I got to my lifetime goal of a 405 back squat. You guys dealt with my bullshit and beginner ways and turned me into someone that can commit to the process and get strong. I wish I would have listened to you all from the very beginning. Thank you guys so much for inspiring me and giving me the cold hard truth about anything I asked. I love this forum because it is filled with people like you. You guys taught me about what’s important in training and how to get consistent. I took a piece of everything you guys do and created my own “program” that works for me. I’m just glad I finally decided to just listen to you guys.

I also want to thank all you other guys that follow my log. Through all the goal changes and crazy ideas I’ve had, you guys have always made fun of me, but kept supporting me, so thank you.

For anyone new following this log you know how to add lbs to any lift? Train hard and smart in the gym and don’t miss days and eat for performance. This has done the biggest difference for me!

3 years ago I could have never imagined I could squat 405. I thought my genetics weren’t good enough. But fuck genetics. You make your body what it is. Maybe I don’t have the genetics to be a world class athlete, but I do have the genetics through hard work to get as strong as I’ll ever need to be!

Hi man new to your log, followed along for a bit.
Can’t really remember if I posted before.
Well had to scroll around your log to februar 2017, where I found this little gem:

That’s 200 pounds in one year, Awesome.
And I’m in for this log. Might learn something in here.

EDIT: Totally agree on your writeup, about this community.

Thanks man, glad you have you following!

I think it started with learning how to squat properly and well. That took my first 100lbs. Then the next 100 was just straight up from hard work and focusing on the back squat mostly. But I’m athletic and explosive naturally so I think that aided in my fast progress with squats. I’m literally built for it lol. I was snatching like 185lbs while squatting only 245 if I remember correctly.
