Just Another Log

He kind of tried that, posted a dude around his weight benching around what he claimed he did. His reasoning was, look, here’s someone my size doing what I said I can do so you should believe I can too.

I think one reason I care significantly less is I was never on the receiving end of such a promise. Nor am I one to place any significance on a promise made, or words given, as both are more often than not broken or not delivered on to the letter.

Likewise!

It puts me in a position to not be disappointed or upset with anything a faceless person that exists behind an avatar does or doesn’t do leaving me with more energy for the rest of life. I’m not proposing anyone else should do it, but it works for me and keeps me more sane than being invested. OR at least that is what I try to go for most of the time. I can think of a few examples here on this board when I have been less successful at it.

I do not contend that something doesn’t smell fishy here, it does.

I don’t really want to argue the point for the sake of arguing, but as someone that has eradicated his online traces more than once during his lifetime an individual and their views of privacy can be fluid.

None perceived.

I agree. My post wasn’t to say that until proven otherwise I’ll believe the numbers posted. I honestly haven’t really looked at them that much.

In the absence of a video, the numbers are “unverified”, and for me they are just uninteresting pixels on a screen. I care about my numbers and will cheer everyone on here as they continuously beat theirs. But I rarely give any care as to what that number actually is.

Their validity, or lack thereof, does not invalidate the post of his that I have found to be sound by trying them out myself and therefore, it does not matter to me when/if I repost those for the benefit of someone else whether or not his lifts are legitimate.

I don’t know y’all well enough to say that no-one will sneer at me quoting those posts, but if the do then they do. If so, I hope they’d sneer because of the words, not because of whom I was quoting (this is not a general statement that I’m making, if I start quoting some unsavory historical figures I certainly hope I get called out).

Don’t we all love a scandal?

So if me or you claim we squatted 850 and post a video of Dennis Cornelius that proves it, right?

Well said, agreed, and point taken.

As a dude who weighs 232 this logic opens a LOT of doors for me.

Good for you! I understand you’re ok being in the presence of, and taking advice from, frauds. I’m not and don’t have to. Further, I’m going to make sure other people know what they’re dealing with, because you nor I know what level of deceit this particular person is capable of.

I’ll continue to maintain the fact that truth matters, and someone who lies consistently over a period of many months while stringing along his fan club is a bottom feeding pathetic scumbag.

I’m on the same page. The internet is unaccountable enough without willingly eschewing a requirement for some degree of evidence for claims of any nature.

I had suspicions for quite a while, but didn’t immediately voice them because I was well aware it was possible my view was significantly biased, especially because the claims put the guy ahead of me in strength. So I eventually discussed the matter privately with someone who I knew would call me out if I was on the wrong track. I felt it would be disingenuous to start mouthing off based only on a gut feeling without investigating it first, and without opening my thoughts to what was effectively peer review.

After significant consideration and conversation the consensus was that something didn’t add up, but I heeded the advice to wait and see before making any declarations. Coincidentally - or not - it was around this time I started seeing posts from users whose opinion I have come to respect in other threads raising the same concerns I had, and we all know where it went from there.

What stood out to me was that, from memory, the people calling out the inconsistencies all had a track record of fairly significant experience all backed up by evidence.

The value this section of T-Nation has is that it really is a community, one of individuals with the same goal sharing their experiences and actively seeking to help others. What makes it somewhat unique in the online world is that discussions here may become heated, but almost always remain respectful and as a result are more often than not constructive.

Deceit has no place in such an environment, and no matter how well-intentioned will eventually be detrimental. It is hard to see how tacitly accepting deceitful behaviour would do anything other than erode the integrity of everyone involved.

I’m proud to be a part of this. It’s also called growth.

You obviously don’t spend much time around PWI then?

But in training related matters, I 100% agree. This is one reason this is my only active social media account.

There is a good reason for that.

I don’t know anything about the Nutty scandal one way or another, because I didn’t pay any attention, and I think it’s pretty cool that @Voxel is staying out of an internet controversy. If I remember right, he’s pretty young, and that tends to be hard to do when we’re young and right.

However, incredibly well-said @MarkKO. I think you’re eloquent and like your advice anyway, but you put the entire matter into clear words beautifully. I have no other social media, and don’t even understand why people like Facebook (I remember some girl trying to explain MySpace to me back in college and I just stared at her because I didn’t get it; also because she was pretty), but I really really appreciate this community. The folks here actually help each other and become invested when each of us succeeds. I know it’s been cool for me to watch the folks I’ve “known” for longer start meeting their goals. I can even name half a dozen folk’s personal goals, plans, progress, and life challenges off the top of my head. For me, this is the ultimate testament to “community,” and I sincerely appreciate your clear description of exactly what keeps us pure - may we not lose our way.

Thank you!

Nicely put @TrainForPain

I think it’s funny how what started at some people being pissed that a member on here may have been misleading others has actually turned into the community becoming closer. This is what I like most about this online village. Whilst every village has an idiot (or two) the rest of the village is there to support each other and share in their failures and accomplishments.

Heard that Simo!

I’m still holding out some small amount of hope that Nutty shows up with a bad ass video feat of strength. Shows us all what he’s got, and vindicates himself. Basically, he trolled the hell out of us.

Would be pretty cool.

And I’d happily eat the crow.

One can hope for honesty, integrity and a turn in this unfortunate situation.
