From memory he actually just showed up to a meet, with no peaking or prep and put up some crazy numbers. There’s videos of it somewhere.
In many ways I hope you are right.
I have a problem with all of this. I don’t care about drug use as long as you don’t tell me you’re natural. Actually, the only thing a care about is honesty. I don’t follow coaches who blow smoke. I don’t buy many supplements.
The bad part about all of this was promises to show something and never doing so.
This is the internet and people can do what they want, but I don’t have to tolerate or support it.
So, you follow no coaches? From what I have seen they all blow a little smoke, at least bend studies/research results.
Someone keeps a log with big numbers, No one really cares.
Someone keeps a log with elite numbers, promises pictures/ vids and creates a thread about a routine that helped him achieve this without anyone knowing if its true. People are going to want to see something at the least.
I wasnt even aware of nutty until the nuttys routine thing was created. I saw it and thought “no pics or lifting vids, that’s weird”
Yup, I think I was the first one to ask for pics and then brought it up a year later. I was just interested in what the body of some who gained so much strength and focused on only big compounds would look like given his height and weight .
At this point, Lee Boyce is the only one I follow 100%.
I follow some stuff from CT and Paul. I guess I should’ve been more clear. By blow smoke, I meant lie. And by that I mean anyone who claims they achieved A, B, or C by doing sone routine when they were really on a cycle of some sort.
I just like people to be open about stuff.
Some that I like (Dan John, Wendler, etc.) don’t ever mention research or studies.
Ya, I’ve been following this log for a little while and always thought something was up but never mentioned it. The numbers aren’t impossible but the training program makes no sense to me. Heavy heavy compound lifts, supersetted with very short rest periods. It just doesn’t make sense, completely destroying your body every single training session and still progressing without injury.
Maybe it’s PEDs, maybe it’s all a lie, maybe Nutty is just a freak … I know the program would absolutely murder me.
I always enjoyed following this log nonetheless. Hope all is well.
Check out Brian Alshrue’s stuff. Heavy lifts, giant sets, wacky volume and limited rest times. All while battling a buffet of illnesses. But, Brian/@Alpha has vids of him winning Maryland’s Strongest man and training with world class athletes.
My problem with this whole situation is that he was giving advice. If you lie on the internet about being big and strong, that’s fine. But if you lie and then talk from a position of authority to beginners (and then do program write-ups and other shit), that’s just not cool at all. Especially when you make no effort to validate what you’ve said after promising to do so and making excuses about it (even just a single video of one lift with your face cut out would have been sufficient for me).
He wasn’t a mean guy, but I think it’s pretty obvious he was a liar. I really wish he’d prove me wrong, but I don’t reckon he will
@Evolv I know where you’re coming from with your post. I also understand that he looked up to you as a mentor type role. He respected you and this feels weird for you.
Fact of the matter is he has spewed so much bullshit I wouldn’t even know where to begin and I’m not going down that rabbit hole again. There’s this thing called human decency, and honesty is a core component of that. The time frame of this charade is utterly ridiculous. Every post he made was literally a willful lie. Log entries, advice based off accomplishments, etc.
Anyways, I always enjoyed your posts and training concepts evolv, and hope you’re still kicking ass.
I just wanted to make sure you understood the magnitude of deceit he spread around the site. I wish mods would delete his account and all of his posts, frankly.
A lot of the stuff you said in this thread is the same as what I have been thinking for a while. I get that not everybody wants to post shirtless selfies for a bunch of guys (even typing that doesn’t look right) or enter a PL meet, but if you are already at an advanced level of strength and are consistently making progress and posting about your PRs it is very strange to never post a video, especially when asked repeatedly.
The thing here is that Nutty was basically spinning his wheels doing some random stuff but still making some sort of progress until he ran one of Christian Thibaudeau’s programs and suddenly his strength just exploded. Up to that point things still looked believable, but even just doing his own thing with no apparent reasoning he continued making progress at an unusual rate. I figured he probably started taking steroids (I believe he denied that somewhere in here) but the way things look now it all points to this being fake, even more so than before I stopped checking this log because I already figured it can’t be real.
All that Nutty needs to do is post a couple videos, he isn’t a social media celebrity so I really doubt he would have fake plates available. It isn’t impossible for someone with great genetics and who trains hard to make this sort of progress, but he would definitely be an outlier and some proof is required. And if it’s fake, the question is why?
I don’t know Brian to be honest but I’m guessing he would fit well in the PED/Freak categories. His programs get high praise, I’ll check them out.
More importantly he wasn’t a weakling 3 years ago.
3 years is a very long con …
I’ve probably missed a ton of posts, and haven’t been around these forums super consistently at times, nor are you alone in bringing up these claims but I, for one, have, with regards to “advice” posted by Nutty, only the recollection of a double-progression program (which I ran with success and a somewhat overworked lower back) and a 3000 calorie mealplan that was inexpensive.
We’ve had an actual con on these boards. That sold advice. And a program written by Meadows.
Whether or not Nutty’s advice is backed by real-life success I don’t think know, but I don’t think he led anyone down a bad path.
I understand, and respect your scepticism. Truly. Meanwhile, I’m going to roll with “Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence”
But disappearing when confronted is circumstantial evidence. ![]()
Especially when he PROMISED repeatedly, for YEARS, to multiple people, and he had already posted now-deleted form check videos of him squatting under 200 lbs in 2015, AND he said “when I’m comfortable”, meaning at 186 lbs of pure muscle, squatting 500 for reps and performing other incredible feats, he’s not comfortable showing himself.
Why did this even get resurrected? Someone gets called out like that and disappears, it’s not just “I’m fed up with this”. 5 second video of him squatting 500 would have sufficed, and fake plates don’t look real. That’s why Brad Castleberry can’t fake it- the bar doesn’t bend or move like a bar with all that weight on it.
I like you dude, but this is a ridiculously silly way of navigating the internet in general, even more so on forums that are centered around people showing feats of strength. You have to do literal mental gymnastics to explain any of this stuff. It’s not a privacy issue because he’s posted videos before. It’s not a tech issue, despite him saying he was having problems recording, because he said he owned an IT company. It’s not a simple “I don’t want to”, because he PROMISED the videos. It’s just bullshit, all of it. But no hate towards you, bud. Just don’t think we can just say “claim what you want on the internet with no proof and I’ll believe you”.
I only saw this stuff today, I hadn’t looked at this log in a long time and noticed there was some activity so I thought I would drop by and see what was happening.
I really don’t understand why he would try to trick us into thinking he is some super strong little guy, he’s not even selling anything so what is the point? He must be some sort of compulsive liar, it’s not normal. The funny thing is we do have another guy on this forum who was lifting around the same (and way more on DL) at around the same height and weight (@Vincepac1500) but he posts videos regularly and competes in drug tested PL meets. If anything Vince should write an e-book and advertise his coaching services on here.
What Nutty claimed he was doing wasn’t unbelievable, it was just way above average. But at this point even if he did post a video I don’t think I would believe it was him still.
Wait, what? What have I missed?
