Very good training video. Would like to see more like this.

Ive been incorporating stretchers and 1 arm BB rows over the last 5 weeks and they have become staples in my back training. meadows has some awesome ideas.

Also, what gym do you go to? Looks pretty damn nice. certainly better than mine.
will be filming at least one workout per week

Yeah the 1arm bb rows are awesome!

I train at Nautilus Plus which is a gym chain thats only in the province of Quebec

Sick video zraw. Thanks for finding the time to make and put it up. Those ā€˜stretchers’ look good, gonna dabble with those at my next back workout.
Let me know how it goes

just realized today that i have been wrapping my straps wrong on DB shrugs for the past 7 years…my forearms would always give out so i resorted to things like deadlifts to build em (got the straps right on those)

wow what a difference it makes!!! lol it’s like night and day.

so we are dumb together Zraw, time to build some traps!

Not to be a dick, but how the hell can people NOT wrap the straps correctly?
You would know immediately if they are wrong.

trust me, i feel pretty stupid

i had them right on everything else tho lol… barbell rows/deadlifts/etc… even barbell shrugs (could never feel those good enough to use them tho)

but whenever it came to shrugging with something in both hands… tied it wrong

oh well, lesson learned… time to blow up my traps

EDIT: also had them wrong on DB straight-leg deadlifts and partial laterals, rows… basically any one arm thing… damn

Hahaha yeah I feel so happy about ā€œlearningā€ how to wrap correctly im literally using 2x weights I used on shrugs and deadlifts (if not using mixed grip) and pretty much all my rows numbers went up greatly while keeping form the same haha

Lol @ getting fat during offseason

so I tried my raises like you said, with a lighter weight and more control of the reps.

Much better! Better feeling in the target muscle and less stress on the shoulder joint.

thanks for that

Been meaning to say for weeks: Stretchers are probably my single favorite movement that JM’s vids have taught me.

Z, something I’ve been wondering about: Deadlifting for hypertrophy/MD-style training.

Over time, I’ve definitely changed my squat form to more fully target my posterior chain. But I haven’t really changed my deadlifting form at all. I feel like it targets my back and hamstrings well, and I’m apprehensive about tweaking things because of the injury risk that goes with DLing in the mid-4s.

I’m pretty comfortable with my DL form, but I’m just wondering whether you made any changes to yours when you started training with JM.

Thanks.

zraw-you are getting huge, eating a shitload and staying lean—i am mad jelly

ZRAW,
What sort of rest periods does Meadows incorporate for larger bodyparts (chest, back, legs)?
Thanks,
Tim

Z, Have you had any issues with tightness in rear delts since employing jm’s methods?

The reason I ask is I have added in a lot of John’s techniques lately, including the heavy/high rep rear delt swings/partials, with fantastic results as far as deltoid development goes. However, I’ve noticed a lot of uncomfortable tightness when doing any kind of overhead extension movement.

I’m working around it for now just wondering if you or anyone else has had similar problems.

Lemony, Of course I’m not Zraw, but I did experience that tightness, but over time it wore off as my rear delts became conditioned. I also added rear delt stretches that work nicely.

Its mostly a ā€œhow I feelā€ kinda thing but as soon as I feel ready to go back at it its go time

This usually means 45-60secs except for legpresses/squats where its more in the 2-3mins zone

Honestly I cant say ive ran into this problem but keep in mind i dont do high high reps for rear delts every week

I do some band over and down each weeks though so this might help with shoulder flexibility (its like the dc broomstick thingy except with band)

jM doesnt have me deadlift on back days… rack deads sometimes but rarrly

For sldl on legs day its in the 10-12 range and the form is to keep tension on hams so go down flowly with small bend in knees to reach lower at bottom then come back up only 3/4… you wont use that much weight tbh
