Julien G (zraw) Road To Provincials 2014

Oh, one more thing, Z… with all due respect.

You’re a damn good looking dude. I’d like to see you grow your hair out during off-season.

Just sayin.

And no, I’m not going to post “no homo”.

lol

Hard to believe you just had 2 weeks off. Your back is really coming along already nice work!

Can you say what your diet looked like for the 2 weeks off, I can’t believe how vascular you are still

Mark my word I expect my back to really blow up this year… one reason being I have faith in JM but another one being I learned how to correctly use my straps like… 4weeks ago… serious…

I was using them way wrong and basically didnt even benefit from them… always had a problem with grip because of that… not anymore… i feel my back working way more and i can use more weight… i almost feel ashamed hahaha

As far as my diet is concerned it was basically a : off days macros (i posted it earlier in the thread) but if I didnt feel like it I could do basically whatever the hell I wanted, which I did a couple of times hah

this isnt stickied because?

Could you go into more detail on how you’ve changed the way you use your straps? I never thought it could be possible to get something so simple wrong so maybe we are all missing a trick here.

I don’t know if Zraw experienced the same epiphany I did many years ago, but in keeping with my usual admissions of being really clueless at the start…
It was a couple of years before I figured out that you should wrap the straps UNDER and around the bar for a much more secure grasp than wrapping them over.

Same situation? If it’s anything else, I’m damn curious to hear. Always nice to hear of someone else coming close to my own levels of boneheadedness

It took me about 6 months of using straps before a more experienced lifter in my gym explained to do this. Glad I’m not the only person!

I beleive the way Meadows uses the wrist straps is having them loose on his wrist and wrapping the whole cross-section of the strap around the bar. This gives you a much more secure grip than tightening the strap on your wrist and just wrapping tha tail around the bar. Also much quicker as you don’t have to loop the strap around the bar multiple times, once will do.

hahaha. I used to think upright rows worked triceps. I guess it happens to all of us.

Hahaha same situation yes!

I was starting from over and wrapping from “exterior” to “interior” if that makes any sense… basically the bar was rolling in my hand after 2-3 reps lol…

I feel like I always see John Meadows using those EliteFTS straps, and I was wondering/hoping that zraw may have tried them out. I’ve been thinking about getting a pair, but I was hoping I might get a review first.

Haha the only reason I didn’t do over first instead of under like your supposed to was because the instructions on the box

I own a pair of these and honestly it was a waste of money. They are very thick and not flexable, I could never get a tight grip with heavy weight with these as they would always slip down my wrist onto my hands making me have to stop and reset the strap. Maybe the orange ones would be better as they appear to me a softer material.

Just get yourself a good pair of the regular straps and you will be fine.

My 2 cents.

Iron mind anything is awesome.
I’d rather buy from there then anywhere else if I have the money for lifting equipment.

They are good once broken in. When I first got mine, they were really slick and didn’t grip the bar well.
