Julien G (zraw) Road To Provincials 2014

I bought 2 pairs about 4 years ago and haven’t even opened the 2nd pack yet. I don’t remember them being slick in the beginning but I also wasn’t pulling anymore than 350 at that time so maybe I just didn’t notice. Either way, I think the only way i’ll move on to the 2nd pair is if I lose these ones.

Man, this great thread fizzled into a boring discussion about lifting straps!

Hey Z, add some new pics to bring it back to its former glory!

Soooooooo

Im currently having some of the coolest/best arms workouts ive ever had… the pumps im getting is just ridiculous…

Decided to post ONE of them for you guys… enjoy… and report back if you do try it

Superset 1

Rope pushdown : 3 sets of 15. 4th set = dropset with 4 drops doing 8-10reps each time

with

Cable curls : 3 sets of 8 reps with a 2sec hold and squeeze at the top. 4th set = dropset with 4drops doing 8-10reps each time

Superset 2

Hammer curls (on side) : 3sets of 10 (squeeze the grip as hard as you can). 4th set = dropset with 2 drops doing 10reps each time (I did 30-20-10)

with

Reverse grip pushdown : 3sets of 12. 4th set = dropset with 3 drops doing 8-10reps each time

Superset 3

Decline lying extension/skullcrusher : 3sets of 8-10. 4th set = dropset with 2 drops doing 8reps each so 8-8-8

with

Any machine curl : 3sets of 8 with a hard squeeze. 4th set = dropset with 2drops doing 8reps each

HAVE FUN. THIS WAS FAST PACED AND BRUTAL AS HELL AND I NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A MASSIVE PUMP, EVER

lol damn, you can tell how pumped you are just from the photo. Envious of your vascularity.

Just curious: can you say a bit about why and when you superset exercises? I know that JM advocates doing a triple superset for arms, e.g. a tricep movement, a bicep movement, and then another tricep movement. Is there a reason you opted for the two-movement superset? Are there other times besides arms that you use supersets?

The JM article on this site talked about two-movement supersets.

JM doesnt “advocate” doing trisets per se… the patterns change every week in my training

The goal for arms is just to get the biggest pump possible so having supersets like this for arms just helps get more blood in there

He talks about why working biceps/triceps on same day is beneficial

What he has me doing for arms seems to be working…

Actually… all he has me doing seems to be working lol

fuckin hell man, you’ve ballooned! You’re looking massive now (not that you were small before).

definitely going to try that arm workout too, thanks for posting that

Not to take anything away from all the hard work you put in before, but would you say the bulk of your progress has come since hiring John and Skip?

Powerlifter reporting in!

I tried your arm workout at the end of my session today. It was pretty crazy. The first superset was actually the hardest for me. On my fourth drop set of those rope pushdowns and cable curls I was all the way down to like the first or second setting on the machine.

My triceps did alright after that, but my biceps were completely shut down on the last sets. Didnt matter what the weight was I could barely get them to respond to my demands that they contract.

Thanks for putting this up. It was a good reminder of what a hard arm workout is supposed to feel like.

Hey zraw, did you ever hear anything more about the possible Meadows program that involves 8 weight sessions a week? I remember you discussed (or at least mentioned it) it on your original thread, and I was just wondering whether anything ever came of it.
