The disc injury happened in 2010. I’m mostly fine now, but when I don’t train intelligently it can flare up. I realize I am still pretty weak but Since I have the money to spend and I already train seriously 4-5 days a week, I would rather make the best possible use of my time.
The point is that you’ll be spending a huge sum of money to make the kind of gains you will probably make anyway. At your weight and strength levels, there’s no way you’re anywhere near a real plateau. I would think you still have a lot of beginner’s gains to make. That in mind, it’s silly to spend so much money on training.
Fuck that, self taught people get nowhere, just go in the training logs section and see for yourself. Hiring a coach is the best thing this guy can do ever.
You mean self-taught people like Bigben, Ebomb, et al? You might want to get out of the Indigo Logs, bud.
LOL I take it he hasn’t seen my log either
No shit. What are you, 18 or 19? My main thesis here: Why in the world would you pay hundreds of dollars for results you could get from asking some of the more experienced PLers on this site? Christ, if you are so dead set on pissing away money, you can consult a Meat or PeteS and then send me the money.
Why are you so hung up on the cost, it doesn’t matter for shit. The guy asked between coach A and coach B who you would choose, money had nothing to do with anything whatsoever in any equation ever. He would have told you if it did. And I’m sorry but there is NO regular poster or author in the entirety of T-Nation who holds a candle to either of these 2 gentlemen in terms of credentials. Anyone who dares pretend otherwise is a straight up fraud.
When did anyone compare themselves to Mike or Josh? Serious.

There’s 2 great powerlifting routines in Josh’s book. He tells you in his book how too adjust the weights to your maxes. Why dont you just pick up his book at his website and follow the routines. You will be good for 2 twelve week cycles. Plus it,s a great book too, with lots of usefull information.

People that seem so serious about training never fail to amaze me with how cheap they are!

Hiring Josh to program my training was probably the best decision I’ve made in over 10 years of lifting. I had everything I needed before that. A great crew, awesome gym, all the toys you could want but something was still lacking.

Putting together an actual plan down on paper, tailored to you and your goals by someone who knows what they are doing is the SINGLE BEST THING you can do for your training. I really liked working with Josh, he always got back to me right away and was always supportive of me but at the same time pushing to do more. Not to mention, I had some killer results.

Go without new shoes for another couple of months, cut out one dinner a week out a week, quit buying shitty expensive supplements that don’t work. Spend the money with Josh or Mike and do work son!

Says the guy with triple my online posts in half the time, oh and half the total
L.O.L. My numbers are plain for anyone to see in my training log, but if you are totaling twice what I am raw, you’d have the biggest raw total of all time by many hundreds of pounds. So seerz, good job, bro. You’re some kind of lifter. A call-out based on number of posts really does a lot to strengthen your argument, too.

I had a good experience training with Josh Bryant and would definitely hire him again. I also have had good gains planning my own training based off of things I have read. It can be fun and productive to let someone else make the decisions for you for a while.

There is absolutely no reason for this to turn into an argument, this doesn’t need to be a polarizing issue.
I agree. Good post.

I am currently working with Josh and I am making ridiculous progress. A few of us have logs on here so you can get the gist of it but no one really gives anywhere close to the whole program away. If you have the money and this will make you happy spend it. As long as you have the right attitude almost any reputable program will work. Good luck!

You’re an idiot. Plenty of self-taught people if not at all hold most of the current world records in powerlifting. This new “hire an online coach thing” has really only come about in the last year or two.
I like how it’s always the most retarded people in the room that call others idiots. I don’t give a fuck if it’s online or not, you need guidance if you want to be as good as you’re gonna be, and the earlier the better.

That comment about world record holders is just laughable on so many levels, but I’m guessing you realized it after posting.
This was about online training and the merits of distance training. I never said that guidance was useless, good job on attempting to put words in my mouth. Guidance is a big plus, but you made a very generalized statement about self-taught not being able to do much. Again, I stand by my statement of “you’re an idiot” referring to your first gross generalization. You’re second statement which I’ve quoted, is not idiotic as you go and correct yourself about guidance specifically. Lastly, I’d consider myself far from retarded and have results to show for it.
