Joints Sore w/ Bicep Excercises???

Can’t seem to affect my bicep. Just the joints get sore sfter a 10x3 exercises. Anyone know why and how to correct???
Thanks, Rob.

Not sure if this is the same problem you are experiencing. I had nagging pain in my elbow (left arm) which would radiate around the back of the elbow around the bone and all the way around to the inside of the elbow where the bicep tendon connects. It would really flare up during bicep exercises or any lat exercises which involved pulling motion.

This went on for months and sometimes would hurt so bad I could barely work out. Ice & ibuprofen would provide temporary relief. I took a couple of weeks off which seemed to help but it started hurting again when I resumed my training. I purchased an elbow band -

This helped dramatically but if I quit wearing it during workouts the pain would come back. I started using Biotest Flameout and after about 4-6 weeks of use the pain completely disappeared and hasn’t returned. You might try both the band and the Flameout to see if it helps. It’s a cheap fix if it works. I wouldn’t take any chances though so consulting a doctor first to rule out anything major would be recommended.

You doing curls?
If you use dumbbells, try keeping them vertical, not horizontal. If I keep them vertical, I don’t have any issues with my joints when doing curls. Switch to horizontal and all hell breaks loose.

Another thing I discovered with mine. After some Active Release work on the arm. I make sure I do full range of motion. No partial moves on curls. I know sever bodybuilders who have lots of elbow pain, but refuse to fully extend the arms at the bottom. Another thing is to ice the joints after a workout. Man, it feels almost as good as eating apple fritters.

There are so many things that could be going on here that I can’t begin to help unless you give a nice history. Where does it hurt? When foes it hurt? What type of pain is it? (shooting /stabbing / numbing / tingling / burning ?) Do you have any other problems? What is your training frequency? What does your exercise protocol consist of? Do you have a history in your family of injured joints? How old are you?

These are just the beginning of things I say to my patients, and you simply said my joints hurt after doing bicep exercises. Help me to help you, help me to help you, help me to help you!

I agree with an earlier poster, try an elbow wrap. I’ve found that a single band an inch or so below the joint works best. The theory behind this is the tendon is rubbing on the joint and the band pulls it away relieving the presure and pain. GOOD LUCK
