I’m in for sure. I pull more in sumo but haven’t done it in a while. I just like conventional more for some reason.
I’m in, i haven’t tested my max for a while, but recently i’ve been pulling 405 for multiple sets of doubles and triples. I’m shooting for 500 by february.
I am in, the best I have done at the moment is 465 conventional. I am in the process of giving sumo pulling a serious run though so we will see what happens with that.
In. Did 200kg a while ago. Trying to get the squat up to 200kg mainly but find I don’t need to train DL a lot for it to go up. Hope can get 5 hundro by Jan 2011, that’d be magnificent lol
I will join in on this thread. I currently have a conventional dl of 200kg(440lbs). However, I have recently switched to pulling sumo and managed a 190kg a few weeks ago. I have a PL meet coming up in 2 weeks and hopefully I will pull sumo 200/210kg. However, I think this thread is a good goal to set myself. It will be good to follow everyones progress.
I`m in.
I pulled 405x1 in the summer and started 5/3/1 2months ago
Im in as well. Current best is 435, hope to get 455 in mid December at the end of my Coan/Phillipe Deadlift cycle.
Ok. I’m in.
I am a squat fanatic. Don’t care so much about the DL. I used to like it a lot, but the last couple of years, I’ve only focused on the squat to bring up my strength there. DL has been kind of forgotten.
I still have 235kg DL raw sumo style from 2009 as my best. However my best conventional deadlift with double overhand grip with no belt is 205kg. I never really was a friend with the conv. deadlift, as leg strength always have been my force, so I’ve always chosen to do sumo deads. And besides I had a very serious back injury in 2007 that I do not wish upon my worst enemy, so I’ve been a bit afraid to do the all out hellish grinders in the DL, oddly I don’t fear it in the squat.
However, just for the hell of it, I am joining this thread. I am still going to focus on the squat, but I’m going to do a little more DL’ing. I’m not going to focus solely on it to bring it up, but from nothing to a little something, we should see some increase, and since I’ve really brough up my squatting strength, there should be high chances for increasing my DL too.
I’ve never been a quick gainer, and a 495lbs/225kg DL won’t come easy in the conv. style, but if I stick to it, it will come.
Next step for me will be an attempt at 207kg. I really think that I have it in me alreay now. I should probably be ashamed that I don’t deadlift heavier weights, but I really don’t care so much about it and besides, I know if I just want something bad enough and fight long enough, I will get there. The motivation surely must be internal and burning insanely, or else there will be no progress. ![]()
So I am into this thread, but don’t expect the same level of dedication as I show for my squats. ![]()

I wish you good luck and health.
In. PR is 425, current max is 405 on the dot. 531 is the way.
Stallion! Your a badass. Its awesome your joining!
here’s me grabbing 405 for 8, form gets a little shotty at the end haha, I can do 465 x3, it’s confusing me why I haven’t been able to bump up to 495 yet, it’s fucking infuriating.
Sorry about it being sideways guys.
I’m so in for this comp.
I’m in too, DL progress was starting to stall out but then I started using chalk and don’t have any grip issues now. Original goal was by end of this year but may be pushed back a few months now. Did 455 last month but reset my 5/3/1 max to 405 to get higher reps. First goal is to get 405x8 in 2 months which puts estimated 1RM above 500, then work on an actual max of 495.

You should stop taking the bar out of the racks for deadlifts, it’s making the pull easier and you are doing touch and go reps (which aren’t wrong or anything but you are not pulling from a dead stop for most of the reps. Try dead stop reps for a few weeks from the floor and be prepared to be humbled.
If you find your strength off the floor to be shit after a month of this, try some deficit pulls.
Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I’ve been meaning to do it from ground level for a while now, I just feel more comfortable doing it from the pins, I’m not quite sure how the touch and go will really make a huge difference, but hell I’ll try dead stops.
Time to hop in and leave the 405 thread I started ![]()
Pulled 405 in August but pulled 455 last week. I’m hoping to pull 495 or 500 before I turn 21 on November 28th! That would be a nice birthday present ![]()

455x1 midshin conventional rack pull. 40lb PR since late summer. It was a bit uglier than I would’ve have liked but I got it and it was explosive. Not bad for not having done any pulls at all in the last 12 or so weeks.
I’ll bite. recent pulls: 435x1 easy, 400x5 on axle. Just started a new program a few weeks back, at 365x2 off of 3 mats, which is a little over 2" deficit.

It’ll make a huge difference. You’re getting quite a bit of rebound without pausing between reps. Still strong though man. What’re you weighing? I’d like to add that my race to 500 will be without a belt or wraps or anything, though I’ll probably wear my tendonitis straps but those have absolutely no carryover to lifting. I even wear 'em when I bench.
Tendonitus straps… what are those and where do you get them?
