Join the Quest for a 405lb Squat!

I’m ok to join the quest my PR is only 330lbs!

I’m in! 4 plates by the end of the year was my goal already.

I haven’t gone past 315 yet this year yet. I’m trying to work hard on form. I was getting sloppy and starting with a knee bend so my knees were going way too far forward. I’ve been focusing on breaking the hips first & haven’t had any pain! I’ll try to post a video next week!

I will say that i was hitting 340-345 for a single about 2.5 months ago with RPE of 9-10. I did the Smolov intro and base mesocycle and it netted me 40 pounds on my PR just for those interested. Give it a look. It blew me away on how much you can gain so quickly.

Some of you guys have been working hard. I was hoping this thread would have more participation. I’ll leave this clip for motivation. I was 46yrs old and weighed about 205. The wraps were 20 years old then…still have them.

BlueCollar, how many years under your belt training when you took that video?

It is very challenging, during the base cycle your hitting squat with decent volume 4x per week. BUT it does pay off well if you push yourself through it

I’ll jump in.

Approaching 49, way over weight, and fairly new to barbells - especially on lower body.

I started SL 5x5 a little over 2 years ago, but the frequency burned my out quickly.

Lifted without parameters for about 8 months until I discovered 5/3/1.

Started 5/3/1 in March of 2016 with my squat max about 15lb lower than my bench press. My deadlift was even worse. Since then I’ve gone from a 305ish 1RM to a 365 1RM this past February.

I haven’t put anything heavier than 335 (for a set of 5) on my back since, but I suppose I could be cajoled into trying to hit a new max once every three months or so…

23 years.

180kg is my long term squat goal so I may as well go a few pounds further and aim for 405. Give me quite a while though.

Dang. Nice. As they say, it’s a marathon not a sprint

I’m in but it won’t be anytime soon, its one of my lifetime lifting goals and proportionally squat is my worst lift. I actually have not done back squat since last summer probably and only do front and SSB currently. I’d like to get at least 365 with front squat eventually but the 4 plates seems so close to pass up, as much as I don’t like back squat that might be more achievable than doing it with fronts.

I’m in too, hit 315 yesterday with good speed so still have a ways to go. Powerlifting meet in December might be a stretch to hit 405, but I may give Smolov a run between my meets in August December.

I suppose I can join in. I’m at 365 for my max ATM, but on any other day 345 is where I stay on a bi-weekly basis.

I’m in as well. Just hit 365 for a couple singles the other day, and my end of the year goal was 405, so participation. Here. We. Go.

I’m in.

End of 2018 is a 405 goal

! I can do 315 3x5 looking to get to 5x5. End of this month.

What’s your 1rm? If you’re hitting 315 for 3x5 you should be getting close

I have no idea what my 1RM is. I can just did 315 for 3x5 on Monday with the last set, last 3 reps being a bit more of a grinder.
