Join the Quest for a 315 Bench

Forgot about this thread. Hit 315 about a month ago.

2 and 3 count paused benching did wonders for my bench. Taught me to get tighter and use my lats. As well as made me spend more time where I’m weakest.

I want 315 (140kg) like a fat kid wants candy.

Best is 100kgx8/105kgx5/110x3. Still a long way away. Bench just doesnt seem to go up! Damn it!

Damn nice vid. So, did you just stop doing regular bench and switch over to doing only paused benching or did you do both paused and touch-n-go? I’ve never really messed with paused benching.

Thanks. Prior to hitting 315 I was mainly doing paused pressing, but I also started benching more frequently. The combination of pausing and increased frequency has seemed to help my bench progress. In fact, a few weeks after getting a single with 315 I managed to get 3x305.

Got 300 today! 190lbs 6’0" 21yrs 325/300/425

I’m in…315 on incline bench by this summer is my present goal. I’m able to hit 225x10 pretty easy on 45 degree incline. I haven’t tested a heavy triple or single yet. No flat bench for me…too hard on my shoulders.

Oh, what the hell. Might as well. I’m planning to hit 275 for 2 sets of doubles on Monday. Previous best bench press is 275 for a messy-ass single. Been training with Ed Coan for about the past two months and have been seeing awesome results. I should be ending the cycle around 295 or 305. I’m dying for that third plate, man! But, if I do end up getting 305 this cycle, then somewhere between 325 and 335 would be the next cycle that I complete, so that would be awesome. I’m hoping I can put about 20-30 lbs on my bench every 12-14 weeks. Once I start moving into the 300s, then it’ll be 20 lbs/cycle at most. Still, progress is progress.

Looking to get 300 in April, and then 315 soon after. Probably before summer.

Im in, hit 315 about 2 and a half years ago when i weighed about 255 at 6’5, pretty much off and on (mostly off) since then but have started lifting hard again the last few months. Down to 240 (weight) right now and at 140kg (308lbs) bench press. Should have it in a few weeks.

My max jumped back up by doing heavy triples doubles and singles. When i hit 315 a few years ago i did 225 for 16 now I can probably do 220 (100kg) for 11 but can max almost the same. I am thinking the heavier weights at low reps is helping a lot.

I’m in…did 185 for 2 sets of 5 today. I’ll do a max out later, but I expect it to be about 225 or so given how that workout felt.

FInally hit 2 plates (100kg) today, so I’m in. Took me almost a year to go from 85 kg to 100, hopefully if I stick with what I know works now I’ll progress a bit faster.

In for this. Bench is my weak point, due to not having really trained it in the past. Tested near the end of last year at 245lb. I’m running Sheiko and won’t be re-testing for about 3 months; will see how I go then.

82.5kg/181.5lbs for 12, starting to leave two plates behind now

92.5kg/203.5lbs for 8, then 102.5kg/225.5lbs paused for a single. Going for 110kg paused in a mock meet in two weeks.

I’ll join you in this. Got 100kg for 7 + 3 + 2 yesterday trying out rest/pause.
