He’s definitely in great shape. And no doubt pretty strong too.

But unless those lift are done using the latest in super powerlifting gear, I find those numbers incredulous.

Johnnie jackson, however, is definitely the real deal and has proven so many times in competition.

41 in bodybuilding doesn’t mean what it used to. Most of the top guys (or at least most well known) are near or over 40 now. It used to be that “40” moved you out of bodybuilding. That is actually a lot of change in the progress of people around that age in the last 20-30 years. Most of the guys I trained around who were that age and over looked about 10 years younger at least.
That’s the ironic thing about aging with lifters…a lot of people say that dudes int heir early 20’s who lift seriously look 30, and are all “He’s gonna look 50 when he’s 28!”. Then when they turn 50, they look 35 lol. I think the false perception of premature aging is at least partially because serious lifters in early 20’s have more square, “manly” looking jaws/faces, and so people interpret them as aging faster. But the joke’s on the haters when they reach max level, and stop leveling…
I think they treat younger larger guys that way because being that filled out is related to “maturity”. The current look seems to be an attempt to look as boyish as you can as long as you can…so the 22 year old with shoulders bigger than dad’s is seen as being in his 30’s.

Then, everyone turns 35 and the guys who stayed in shape are still pulling college girls and don’t look like they are about to retire.
yep. cant tell you how crazy it was when I went to my 20 year high school reunion.

withered, smat(small but fat), pot bellies, small flabby arms, droopy man-ass or no ass at all, and when I shook their hands with the exception of a few, i felt like I could have crushed them if I wanted to.

my wife was shocked, and actually felt sorry for some of the other wives.

I run into people I graduated from HS with waaaay back in '91 (or they all seem to find me on Facebook -lol), and I was the furthest thing from looking like a Jock that you could imagine. Of course I haven’t actually changed my persona at all, which weirds people out who expect me to be some macho-acting t-talking I dunnowhat.

Still, it does give you a certain perspective seeing people who had some build when they were younger (either due to genetics, or just enjoying sporting activities) vs those who later on in life seek out information and intelligently apply it with discipline and consistency.

And yeah, isn’t it cool when the Wife realizes how lucky she is? In my old Apartment Cat would complain and whine that I didn’t have any blinds or curtains in my bedsroom. When she’d ask if I was worried about people seeing me undressed I’d reply “Sweetie, people buy tickets to see me in a damn speedo, I ain’t ashamed of nuthin’!” -lol

The list if guys that can squat 800 lbs without supportive gear is quite small.

Mike O’Hearn is not on that list.

That vid showed a guy with a bunch of sub-45 lbs bumper plates.

meh…and LOL @ knowing who’s on the “list” and who’s not and acting like O’hearn comes out of nowhere pulling that off. he’s doing it for the last 25 years.

Stan Efferding and Mark Bell recently spoke of him squatting 800, and everyone knows these guys fake lifts all day long

lets keep this thread on JOJ.

Forgive my ignorance then…

Having an 800 lbs raw squat, 600 lbs raw bench, and 800 lbs raw deadlift at a mere 240 lbs body weight puts Mike O’Hearn among the best of the best of the best of all time.

But Mark Bell is a credible witness. If Mark told me he saw the these lifts in person, I would take his word for it.

Mike did he share of training over at ST gym with Mark and the guys. yes you can take his word for it, but really, he is that strong. you cant go around claiming fake lifts for years and get backed up by top names.

I think bad form on more exercises is a sure fire way to injury. That being the case I don’t see bad form in Jackson’s videos. I see a lot of defending of his form but nobody criticizing, what are people saying is so bad about his form?

only bump this thig to not post stuff without a backup.

here is what mark bell said:
Look at the size of the all-time world record holder Donnie Thompson. Now, I know Super D is fat. He was nearly 400 pounds when he squatted 1,265, benched 955 and deadlifted 770. However, that doesn’t change the fact that he had some of the biggest legs and back ever built by a man.

Hell, Mike O’Hearn used to compete in powerlifting, and he uses a lot of power movements to this day. As much as I hate to admit it, Mike can kick my ass in many exercises in the gym. I know this firsthand; Mike trained with me in the late 90s.

I realize Mike looks like a bigger version of Fabio, but that’s due to his diet and the fact that he’s 6-foot-2 and probably around 5% body fat. Mike probably weighs 255-or-260 pounds, and he has raw-squatted 800 pounds for 2 and pulled 765.
Back to what thread is about.
