I remember reading somewhere that Berardi now suggests limiting the separation of fats and carbs in meals only at certain times (e.g. breakfast, PWO). The rest of the time you should shoot for balanced meals that fit within your diet.
Will try and find where I read it.[/quote]
yea if u do post it i’d be interested in reading it.
I already dont have much fat in my PWO meal. my breakfast usually doesnt have more than 10g either and both of those meals have most carbs out of any of my meals

Pretty sure it was a forum post by Berardi over at precisionnutrition.com. There isn’t a search feature there so I’m not sure I’ll find it.
Berardi recommends having carbs Post Workout (PWO). If you are tolerant enough to carbs then he says that consumming carbs at breakfast (depending on goals) is acceptable. If that isn’t helping you gain mass, you can begin to add carbs at other times.
This is similar to Lonnie Lowery’s Temporal Nutrition article (I recommend reading this).
The advice of splitting meals in to P+F or P+C and not mixing C+F is most applicable to bulking. In fact, it comes from his articles on Massive Eating.
The idea is that in periods of overfeeding (errr, bulking), minimizing the synergistic insulin response from the combo of C+F would minimize fat gain.
As others have stated, it’s not a perfect system, but my experience is that it’s effective. That said, it’s not necessary nor should it be deemed “the best” approach.

He says that for bulking? that really surprises me. so he only recommends carbs for PWO and maybe breakfast (which is my PWO)?
i cant see him telling most people to have less than 30% carbs on a bulk and i cant see how u would do that with just pwo. so basically he’s telling some people to not have any carbs on rest days?

He kind of overhauled all that recently on his newsletter:
