JoeGood Gets Better - Rehab & Progress

Joe, great progress in strength and mass gain. There is good work going on here.

Good looking numbers JG. I’m really impressed with your squats. And those deads are very good. I hope to be there soon.[/quote]

Thanks, though I have to admit my squats have been my worst moving lift so I’m glad they are starting to make some progress.

Thanks, LS& Dog, I’m trying to just keep going cause I really, really don’t want to reset my numbers.

Cycle 6-Week 2-Day 1

Milies

3x105
3x120
4x135
1x155(+5 PR)

5x10x90

Kroc Rows

3x22x65

Standing EZ Curls

5x12x70

I was really pissed because I couldn’t lock the 5th rep out on the money set so I did a single of 155. It was UGLY but i did lock it out.

Nice PR, Joe…especially after the money set!

Thanks Kimba, just trying to catch the big boys.

It was damn ugly that PR rep. Really, really ugly.

Don’t get points for pretty. The one’s you’ve got to gut out are the best. Your pressing strength is going up.

As long as you don’t hurt yourself or in competition, its pretty.
Nice Mili’s.

Nice millies Joe. Wish I could do them. They tear my shoulders all to pieces. Your lifting is really progressing.

Thanks guys, I’m just trying to keep my head down and make progress.

Cycle 6-Week 2-Day 2

Deads

3x260
3x300
6x335
1x385
5x10x205

GM’s

5x10x160

V-bar press downs

5x10x72.5

I got almost no sleep last night and it showed on the money set. Not terrible but not my best effort. The 385 was ugly and would absolutely not passed in a comp but I’ll take it given the circumstances. I took videos but the money set video was lost due to operator error. I will post the videos of the 385, which I stiff legged the hell out of, one of my 10 rep 205 sets and one set of GM tonight when I get one.

Badly filmed 385 Dl stiff legged up with a hitch at the top for added flavor. My hands were really sweatty today for some reason.

Nice pull.

If I may pass along a tip:

Keep those arms absolutely straight throughout the lift. Pulling with bent arms is how mathineer popped his biceps tendon. You’ll get better positioning and force transfer to the bar.

I thought my arms were straight until I watched this. Do you think I need to position my hands closer together then?

There’s nothing wrong with your grip placement at all.

Just flex the triceps to keep the arms straight through the pull. The long head of the triceps crosses the shoulder joint and attaches to the shoulder blade. It’s responsible for both elbow extension AND shoulder adduction. So tensing the tris will protect the elbow joint and biceps, put you in a better position to begin and continue the pull and force you to use more glute rather than lower back to make the pull. It’ll pull the bar into your body, which is what your body is trying to accomplish by bending the arms. The problem with bending the arms is that the weight will swing out front further and take you out of the groove as well as putting the biceps at risk.

Really golden advice.
The first thing I saw before reading DCA’s post was the bent arms and I did a little face cringe.
Some big lifting there. Looking forward to the day I can hoist in that range.

BB Deads

Poor Good Mornings

I might start doing all of my pulls as singles until I’ve gotten my arm issues squared away. It might causes me to have to reset my numbers but we shall see.

Thanks DCA, I’ve never heard to tense the tri’s only to somehow not bend the arms. I will absolutely be doing that. I do not need any injuries.

Damn you tube vids are not showing now.

Funny ass links in the page code
trying these:

Deadlift

GM

Thanks DCA, any idea what the hell I did wrong posting the vids?

Nope. I looked at this page’s source html and the URLs for those vids in your post are just weird. Probably not your fault, just a timing thing. Looks like you joined youtube and uploaded the vids, but copied the vid URLs before your membership fully took or something.

Would you mind if I said something about the good mornings video?

Thats really odd, because that you tube account ahs been active for a year or so, mostly unused.

I never mind assistance from those who are better at something than I am. Fire away.
