JoeGood Gets Better - Rehab & Progress

Thanks Kevin, just doing my best.

Monday-Chest and Back

Bench Press 205 5,5,5,5,5
Rack Pulls 415 5,5,3,3,3
T-bar Rows 175 7,6,5
Floor Presses 70 8,8,8
DB Bench 85 8,6,5

Added Floor Presses and put them in front of DB bench. This, as expected, threw off my DB Bench numbers but I’ll adjust. Cramping is back and this time was worse than ever. Calf cramps while rack pulling/t-bar rowing almost caused major issue. Must figure this out. Result were disappointing but effort was good and I’ll get it back squared away.

Water intake - check on sodium/potassium, calcium/magnesium. Check around for voodoo dolls and Romanian gypsy curses.

Bananas and hydration. Db bench with 85# impresses me a lot. Couple this with the CGB with 195 for 5x5 and I think you may be worth more than 205 on the 5x5 Bench. Really good workouts.

DCA, I’m going to try all of that. I’ve swept my co-workers offices for the Voodoo dolls already.

Hel: There is something amiss with my Bench. I have done a set of 8 reps with 100lbs db’s when I was doing rest paused work a few weeks ago. Of course my second set tailed off fast. Yet at teh same time I would struggle to get 5-6 reps of 225. Its very odd. I ill be upping my weight on the 5x5 bench next week as well as the CGBP so I’m hopping that kick starts my bench.

Tuesday- Quad Legs and Biceps

Squat 205 5,5,5,5,5
Zercher Squat 145 8,8,8
GM’s 145 8,8,8
BB Curls 105 5,5,5,5,5
CG EZ Bar Curls 8,7,4

Moving up on everything but the EZ curls next time. My freaking arms are already sore.

Thursday- Back Day #2 and Shoulders

HS_Iso Lat Front Pull Downs 100/side 5,5,5,5,5
Lat Pulldowns 165 8,8,8
V-bar Pulldowns 130 8,8,8
MIlies 105 5,5,5,5,5
BB Shrugs 365 8,8,7

Next week up every thing but the shrugs.

Friday-Ham Legs and Triceps

Deadlift 255 5,5,5
Deficit Deads 205 5,5,5,5,5
SLDL 145 8,8,8
Leg Press 540 8,8,8
CG Bench 205 5,5,4,3,3
V-Bar Press Downs 90 8,8,8

Gotta up everything but the CG bench next week. Hams are fried.

Nice work, JoeGood. BB shrugs look really strong.
I noticed the deficit DLs. I think I am finally going to try some this cycle. Any advice on them? How elevated are you? I am thinking of using 35’s as my platform.

I really like the deficit deads with a double whammy - use 35’s on the bar and stand on the 45’s. Giving, I’d guess, 3 inches? of deficit. Just make sure you can keep your lower neutral (unrounded) in the bottom position.

Thanks LS, SD is right on the money. I stand on a 45 for my “offical” sets. If I have anything left after those I’ll stand on 2 45’s and really blow out the hammies.

Monday- Chest and Back #1

Bench 215 5,4,4,4,4
Rack Pull 415 5,5,5,5,5
T-bar rows 175 8,8,8
DB Floor Press 75 8,8,8
DB Bench 85 7,6,6

Still trying to get the right groove for DB Bench after doing floor presses. Back is toast but i feel pretty good about the session. Played flag football yesterday and was worried I’d be gassed today but it was okay.

Spent the last part of my traiing talk ing to some lovely young coeds so that is always a great way to end a session.

Nice work Joe…

25 reps of rack pulls,25 reps of deficit deads,
and 20+ reps on benching too.
Really nice work.

Great volume!!

I use the aerobic steps. and stand on maybe 4" sometimes 6" for snatch grip deads.
how do you set up your db’s either for full ROM or floor presses?
I find using a neutral grip on both (palms in) spares the shoulders.

kmc

Coed talking. Need to add those to my routine. Rack pulls are looking great. Only thing I’ve ever done for the deficit deads are use 35’s on the bar. DB bench is as impressive as ever.

Thanks Hel, now if I can use get the BB bench to not stink.

kmc: right now I use an over hand grip but strangely enough I have been thinking about using a neutral grip to take some strain off of my shoulders.

Tuesday- Squats and Biceps

Squats 215 5,5,5,4,4
Zercher Squats 155 8,7,6
GM’s 155 8,8,8
BB Curls 110 5,5,4,4,4
EZ Preacher Curls 90 6,7,7

As you can see I fouled up resting after my bb curls and hosed up my first set of preachers. My arms feel like they are going to fall off> Gotta move the GM’s up next time.

Thursday-Back and Shoulders

HS Iso Lat Pulldowns 105/side 5,5,5,5,5
Lat Pulldowns 170 8,8,6
V-Bar Pulldowns 140 8,8,8
Milies 110 5,5,5,5,5
Shrugs 365 8,8,8

Need to up the weight on everything but the lat pull downs. Did not feel it today but managed to grind it out. Weight down to 186 and I’m about to call it a bottom. Crap I’m sore everywhere…

Have you kept to your cut plan longer than anticipated? Seems like more than a month and you’ve really been keeping the pace right up there. And yes the recovery suffers with a restricted eating plan.

Yeah SD I extended it a couple of weeks but I’m ending it now. I’m just too wiped to go further so I’m gonna transition out slowly.

Friday- ham Legs and Tris

Deadlift 265 5,5,5
Deficit Deads 215 5,5,5,5,5
SLDL’s 150 8,8,8
Leg Press 560 8,8,7
CG Bench 205 5,5,4,4,3
V-Bar Press Downs 95 8,8,8

So I’ll bump up everything but the Leg Press next week.

It’s because he wants to wear Abercrombie :stuck_out_tongue:

Joe start eating food so you can lift more, you will like that better. You have been doing very well though at a deficit

I have a question for you Kevin. I think I can drop my SLDL’s from my Friday workout as the Deads and Deficit deads seem to be hitting my Ham’s hard enough. Do you think it would be a bad idea to drop the SLDL’s at the end.

I know you didn’t ask me, but I would say yes.
