As a previous member of Jehovas Witneses, I lol’d.

Like I said in an earlier post I have my problems with these Jesus Camp type folks but your above post is stupid above all measure. The Jesus Camp type Christians and the Jews for that matter are doing nothing of the sort that you mention. Sheer stupidity on your part; you’re a sucker.

I sure get tired of the intellectual vapidity I see on this forum.
actually it is not stupid beyond measure. The Moyer film was not perfect, but it was good because in 90 minutes he gives a picture of one subject that would otherwise take many hours or years of research to learn.

which obviously you have not. I have. I’m not a sucker. Why would you say something like that? Does that make you feel tough, or manly…very strange. You are tired of intellectual vapidity. Are you tired of meaningless macho bravado? probably not.
drewh wrote:

I’m done with it too. The reason I care about this shit is because those that are NOT done with it, are blowing each other up and shooting each other, and I don’t want my world to be dragged into somebody else’s fight.

More vapid bullshit. No Jesus Camp folks are blowing up anything.

So in the words of Tracey Ullman…“Go home…go home.” You’re done here, V-man.
yawn…ok, go back to the movie and watch the part where the adult is explaining to the camera how she is envious of the zealousness of the Muslim children who believe so strongly in their religion that they become suicide bombers. Then she explains that she hopes the children she teaches at camp will have that kind of faith, to die for Jesus.

now I’m done.

Push wasn’t applauding these people, he was simply saying that they don’t go out and bomb people of differing beliefs, which is true.

Besides not bombing anyone these kids are steeped in moral behavior . The ones I know grew up to be good people, even the party people . I know alot besides the bible thumpers , no nut jobs

No, they just support making other people bomb each other. They see a Middle East/Israel conflict as a sign of the end times.

As much as little pushharder wants to hide behind meaningless swagger and topic switching, he is no better than the people that are being criticized here.

Speaking in tongues is a supernatural manifestation of the holy Spirit, i.e., a Spirit-inspired utterance whereby the believer speaks in a language he has never learned (Acts 2:4). It may be in existing spoken human languages (Acts 2:6) or in languages unknown on earth (cf. I Cor. 13:1). It is not “ecstatic speech,” as rendered in some translations, for the Bible never uses the yerm “ecstatic utterance” to refer to speaking in tongues.

It must be recognized that the mere occurrence of speaking with “other tongues,” or any other supernatural manifestation, is not absolute or uncontestable evidence of the work amd presence of the holy Spirit. Speaking in tongues can be counterfeited by human initiative or demonic activity. The Bible cautions us not to believe every spirit, but examine whether the spiritual experiences we have really do come from God (I John 4:1).

Speaking in tongues, in order to be valid, must be “as the Spirit [gives] utterance” (Acts 2:4). To follow the norm in the book of Acts, speaking in tongues must be the spontaneous result of the initial filling of the Holy Spirit. It is not a learned phenomenon, nor can it be taught by instructing believers to speak incoherent syllables.

The Holy Spirit explicity warns that in the last days of this age there will be, within the church, hypocrisy (I Tim. 4:1-2), signs and wonders from satanic powers (Matt. 7:22-23), and deceitful workers disguising themselves as servants of God (II Cor. 11:13-15). We must heed these warnings from the Holy Spirit as they relate to counterfeit spiritual manifestations and signs (Matt. 7:22-23).

In order to discern whether our speaking in tongues is genuine, that is, tryly of the Holy Spirit, we must look for the Biblically defined results of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. If someone claiming to speak in tongues is not committed to Jesus Christ and the authority of the Scriptures, and is not attempting to obey the Word of God, whatever manifestations he or she have are not of the Holy Spirit (I John 3:6-10; 4:1-3).
I can’t even find this kind of response on christian forums.

As said here…the easiest way to spot a fake is to look at the person…People will use speaking in “tongues” to gain attention, ive met prophets who seemed appeared to be the scum of the earth and nothing but manipulative and people who use it as a way to be the center of attention.

Ive also heard testimonies from people who were nothing but genuine in my opinion and seen and heard it from people who sought no attention or credit for having done it. Its kind of a surprising thing lawl, they just suddenly start speaking and stop without even acknowledging they said anything. Even people who spoke in human languages didn’t mention it till someone asked how they knew the language and they looked confused by the question lol.

People who do not have knowledge of the bible are very vulnerable to being led astray. God tells you to read the bible and meditate on it,go to church and listen to the people standing in front of you is not good enough. My pastor always offers up passages from the bible on the overhead projector (use it for song lyrics otherwise) to support everything he says and I always take time to think over what hes saying

Oh how much good she is doing for Christians. Imho, there is nothing wrong with dying for Christianity…the only scenario I can think of atm is helping children in africa or something… She puts it in the context of a holy war and brain washing which is grossly and horrifyingly inappropriate. I am truly disgusted. Dying while doing something Godly is fine, God didn’t tell you to blow up the mini mall.

Do most agree interpreting the bible literally is stupid. I’ve met quite a few people who take the king james bible as law.

Oh tongues! I hate to publicly deny a church movement, but I have an extreme disgust for the Pentecostal movement. It’s amazing that I’ve attended all sorts of churches: Lutheran, Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, etc. and none spoke in tongues or convulsed during service. Is it truly only the Pentecostal movement that has a monopoly on the Holy Spirit? These are probably part of the same movement that would have you believe that Jesus was rich and wants you to be rich or that if you are sick, crippled, etc. it’s because your lack of faith. Ever been to Argentina? I sat next to two older ladies who spoke in tongues through the entire mass and shook through out.

What is wrong with being courageous enough to be a martyr? You never stood strong enough for something that you would die for it?

This stuff always cracks me up, I went to a non-denomination church with my cousin and her family, it was the biggest mega church in Lawrence, KS. The pastor asked me (I was sitting next to his family in the front row with my uncle) in front of the whole church, why I didn’t have my bible and asked if I needed one. I replied, “No, I already read and memorized the scripture for today.” He looked puzzled at me, as if there would be no way I could know what verses he was going to read that day, he was right. I then answered his unasked question, “I’m Catholic.” Should have seen the cringed faces of my cousins and uncle. However, I thought it was amusing to have a “smooth jazz” band with lyrics and then later with scripture on three huge movie screens in the middle of service. The horrible thing, I fell asleep about 20 times before I went outside and smoked during his 4 hour sermon.

Needless today I got to talked to him for thirty minutes while he tried to “convert me” and tell me why his church filled with Christmas trees and American Flags was better than my Church filled with Jesus, Joseph, and Mary and all the different statues of Saints. Somehow, Christmas trees and Patriotism triumphs the man himself. The funny thing, my Cathedral at home seats twice as many people, and it’s not even the Basilica.
