Jesus Camp

- YouTube

…fuck

wow - that’s some truly scary video. I truly despise the hyper-emotionalism and bad doctrine being taught in this video. The Bible camps I went to actually taught the Bible and made us study.

truly sad . . .

Do you have any idea what church this was?

Indeed. It’s quite disgusting.

No I’m not sure, I did look up the documentary, and from this page( Jesus Camp (2006) - Plot Summary - IMDb ) they appear to be evangelical…

But I did laugh at the “holy water” nad the prayerenhanced gutterball…

Ive seen documentaries of this camp before and it is scary. I am a Christian (I dont just call myself one) and furthermore I’m a pentecostal protestant and still believe this video is pretty crazy. The whole thing gives a very bad vibe even if what they say is partly in line with the bible.

Oh tongues! I hate to publicly deny a church movement, but I have an extreme disgust for the Pentecostal movement. It’s amazing that I’ve attended all sorts of churches: Lutheran, Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, etc. and none spoke in tongues or convulsed during service. Is it truly only the Pentecostal movement that has a monopoly on the Holy Spirit? These are probably part of the same movement that would have you believe that Jesus was rich and wants you to be rich or that if you are sick, crippled, etc. it’s because your lack of faith.

This takes place in eastern North Dakota, Valley City I believe.

wonder how many of kids end up having artificial manic depression due to the influx of highs and lows they are subjected too.

What if they’re happy?

The modern-day Evangelical movement is comical. Videos like this and some of their other beliefs like the “rapture” make it hard to take anything they say seriously.

Is that all that matters- is that they are happy?

It’s right up there.

I mean, the Amish are pretty odd to us elites. But, if they’re happy (maybe happier than us, who knows)?

Last time I checked the Amish were quite different from the people in the OP’s video.

Hopefully most of these kids will lapse back into the secular world as soon as they leave Jesus camp. At that age they are not sophisticated enough to truly accept or reject what they are being told, but can only repeat what the fat lady says. They’re probably just crying because everyone else in the room is.

Bitch hatin on Harry Potter, she crossed the line big time with me.

LOL - exactly, when you can’t actually teach any kind of doctrine and resort to attacking an imaginary literary character as a real threat . . . it is just pathetic - it really is

Coming from a Pentecostal that means a lot.

I have been to a couple of Vineyard churches and they scare the crap out of me. Some guy just fell backwards and there was no one there to catch him. I think he hit his head so hard it knocked him plum out. No one rushed to his aid, so I just thought it was normal. He finally got up holding his head.

This type of stuff going on at camp is really scarry. I have been to some camps, but I never had the mountain top experiences that people talk about. I feel closer to God in my personal quite times then at a camp.

Yes I agree- the Amish are quite satisfied with their lives (at least those that stay after their venture into our world), but happiness is not the only thing, otherwise kids would be happy to live on slurpees, donuts, and endless TV. The GROWN-UPS realize that this is not the best for them and direct them into healthy eating and other pursuits.

Slothy, What if I kidnapped you and started shooting you with heroin for like a week. Then I untied you and promised you several doses throughout every day. I could probably get you to do just about anything and you would be one happy motherfucker while you were alive. Yet I am going to assume that you would think this treatment was wrong. Also instead of kidnhapping what if parents sent thier kids off to “Heroin Camp” the kids would surely be happy no?

Look, basically all there is to raising children is brainwashing them. It’s brainwashing by direction, and more importantly by passive observation. I’m not saying these people odn’t have a right to do what they are doing, but it’s fucked, and they are fucking thier children up for life. At least most of them.
