The condo happens because if I don’t do it I suck, and really with my two young kids I can’t allow myself to suck. The heavy stuff still happens because in addition to not sucking, I also have to be awesome in some way. Does that make sense?
Words to live by.
thanks mang
on another side note regarding being around for my kids, and able to run/jump/get down on the floor, etc with them, I am putting a lot of effort into addressing longtime issues I have had with my blood pressure. my dad died from Polysystic Kidney Disease, aka PKD, or actually complications thereof, and there have been warning signs that I might have this. since my twenties, even when I dieted down to a measly 180 lbs once, my bp has been high. tracking it over the last couple of years I have noted that it really doesn’t matter much what my diet, supplementation (read into that what you want) etc was, it was fucking high. Finally purchased a home bp monitor this week. So far I have determined that my fucked up sinuses are probably the biggest problem. OK, so I need to escalate that procedure (too many broken noses in my youth). however, by doing some yoga breathing that my 6 year old taught me (seriously), I can drop my bp from a ‘scary zone’ to something like 120/70. in all reality I find myself holding my breath through out almost every activity. great help with max dl/squat/bench, but fucking destroying me otherwise
also of note: apple cider vinegar works almost immediately to reduce bp
my 2 cents on the matter, maybe it will help someone else
warm ups then DE squat to box w/foam pad 8 x 2 @ 395 +120 in chains. was supposed to heavier with chains but kinda forgot. all sets done in about 6 minutes
1 leg leg press 3 x some
hlr 3 x 10
db shrugs 3 x 12
ghr 3 x 10
rev hyper 3 x 10
outta there, everything felt good and easy like it should, did a lot of stretching before hand which really helped. looking to go pretty heavy for two lower days next week so ok that I missed out on some of the weight

Are you suited up when you use the chains?
depending on how beat up I feel, I either go raw or I have a pair of really loose (fit for a SHW) briefs that give me a bit of comfort in the hip flexors, but no real rebound. Occasionally I will go a bit heavier and wear my comp briefs, but that is more likely with a circa max phase, which I haven’t done in nearly a year.
dead stop bench with pins at 1/2 board level 225 x 3, 315 x 3, 335 x 1, then 5 sets of 1 w/315
dips 3 x 15
db bench 80s x 10, 3 x 10 w/100s
front raise 35s/45s/55s x 8
overhead ext 4 x 15 w/80
ez curl 4 x 8
face pull/rope hammer/v bar pressdown 5 sets of somewhere between 10-15 reps each
felt really good, best pressing has felt since injury. the dead stop benches were a bitch, but I think they will get my strength back and better fast. The condo work Friday after work was brutal, 15 sprints in about 15 minutes on the astro turf had me ready to hurl, and legs felt dead after Thursday night’s lower work
so 6 year old has flu, 2 year old has some viral thing along with pink eye, wife is just getting over pneumonia, and somehow expects me to skip squat night and come home to a house full of cranky sick people. oh, and my dog has something that has forced his tear ducts to dry up. fuck that, I am staying away as late as possible, even after a long day at work deploying 3 huge projects this week
stretch, warm ups then
DE box squat, 415 + 120 in chains 6 x 2
DE pulls 325 x 4 x 1, 415 x 4 x 1
ghr 3 x 10
hanging abs 3 x 10
ok, guilt got the best of me, cut it short and headed home. daggers shot at me even coming home early. got all three of them to bed, not like they couldn’t do that themselves, jeesh
now time for zombie fiction and smelling my dog’s farts
Sometimes it seems like the only way to get peace is to give it. I can feel you on wanting to stay away from the sickness but one has to take care of his brood. Good lifting in spite of the stress. Extra Zinc and Glutamine may be in order to help you fight from getting sick, I know it’s helped me.
