It’s always hard to lose a friend and a member of the family like that.
I hate that for you. Its never easy putting down your buddy though I always promsie mine that I’ll give them every good day and no bad ones.
well, the vet gave us some strong arthritis meds, try them out for a week and see if she does better. so no funeral yet

Hey Rick
No traveling this year, had all the Chicago folks (or a subset of them) up here last weekend. Sometime in spring will be down, hopefully look you up.
a.m. 1 mile walk with gaseous 9 year old american bulldog. not really cardio, as he wanted to sniff everything but still got me moving
25 minutes elliptical
later: company party, watched everyone drink and bowl for a couple of hours, then decided to sneak out. still had a couple of hours to kill before gym time, so hit up best buy, did a little bit of christmas shopping for me. then headed to gym, still had time to kill, so decided to go into mall of america. just realized they have a Doc Marten store, and sure enough, they have the original version of the shoes I have wanted, and priced reasonably as well. then I b-lined out, as it was like a two mile walk from where I parked.
got to gym, felt fit and limber from earlier in the day activities so did the following
spider cambered bar to foam on box: 80 x some, 170 x some, 260,310,350,390,440,490,530,580 x 3, well 140lbs up from last week, lol. getting more used to way weight is displaced on this bar. reps kept getting faster with each set it seemed like.
hlr 4 x 8-10
rev hyper 4 x 10-12
Pete,
It’s always nice to read the “recovery” numbers of someone and see they still crush me, thanks for that. Your Doc Marten vignette made me nostalgic, so I popped open an old footlocker of mine and found an old (25 years) pair of 8 eyelets DM’s that I used to wear when I would go bar hopping in the city, and apparently when I would go to the beach, as they were filled with sand. I am pretty much done growing I guess, since they still fit.
quick one today, short on time, kind of DC inspired back work
bent row, warm ups then 365 x 6, 315 x 14
rev grip pulldown warm ups then rest paused 265 x 8+4+2
dbell shrugs 125s x 40
stand calve, abs
pressing/bench rehab
shoulder/rotator stuff x a ton
hammer strength incline lots of warm up, then 3 x 8 heavish
cable flys, from bottom 5 x 12-15
ring push ups 5 x 12
dbell bench, 5 x 10, ending with 100s, post injury PR, pathetic as it is
diamond push ups 3 x 15
elliptical 25 minutes
pretty happy with how all things felt today
Heavy rows and healthy recovery work is always good to see.
sinus infection snuck back up on me, plus about 18 inches of snow
yesterday shovel snow 3 hours
today shovel snow 3 hours
then gms worked up to 405 x 5 sans belt. felt fine aside from being beat to shit from shoveling snow for nearly half a day
leg press worked up to 24 plates x 10
had to leave, to get kid to bring to sports sampler, which was canceled due to weather. didn’t really need any more anyway
gms were first time with straight bar on back since elbow issue, no real pain, just a little tightness
Lots o’ shoveling there. My back always cries out when I shovel. Which probably means I should do it more.
I’m a doc marten girl myself. Just bought myself a new pair of boots for my birthday. They rock.
another work from home day, sinus infection plus shitty driving
face pulls, probably 4 warm up sets then 3 x 12 with stack
laterals 25s/30s/35s/40s/45s/50s x 10
arnold press various light weights 10-15 reps little rest
alt cable front raise 4 x 12
cable abs 4 x some
calves 4 x some
bad elbow shot from shoveling, probably lengthen rehab, but who knows, might ultra compensate
last night:
ez bar curls 75/95/115 x 10, 3 x 10 w/135
pressdowns 4 x 15-20, 3 x 12 w/stack
hammer curls 60s/70s/80s x 8
tricep dip machine 4 x 8, 1 x drop set
seated cable curls 4 x 15, 1 x drop set
rope down 4 x 10
dbell preacher curl 40s/45s/50s x 15
wrist curls 3 x some
Good work
squat night
still sick as shit, need to get nose surgery done before next winter
speed work with spider cambered bar, warm ups than box squat 440 x 8 x 2, 20 sec rest between sets
ghr 5 x some
strong band standing abs some x a hell of a lot
rev hyper 3 x 10, then decided I still felt like crap with sinuses so went home
got home and wife was a mess. she took a spill on the ice walking 6 year old to bus stop this morning, in the morning she acted like she was fine, by tonight she was not so fine. I think her collar bone might be fractured, and forearm as well. of course she confessed to me that her first thought was ‘shit, I still have to get to they gym’. wonder where she has learned this deranged behaviour
some back stuff tonight
tbar rows 2pl/3pl/4pl/6/pl/7pl x 10, 7 + 25 for 6
rev grip pulldowns 5 x 6-10, top set 300lb stack for 6
hammer strength yates row 5 x 10-12
db rows 3 x 12 w/125
shrugs 315/405/495/545/585 x 10
sinuses slowly improving, need to get back to some conditioning work tomorrow
Nice work in here. I Hope the wife is doing better. That’s bad-ass though, thinking about training with a busted-up collar bone.
7 weeks post tricep tear and elbow blow out
rotator/shoulder warm up, light pressdowns, stretching
close grips bar x 50, 95 x 10, 135 x 10, 185 x 10, 225 x 10, 275 x 4, 225 x 20, 275 was a post injury PR, was not to failure but felt pretty heavy, which considering a year ago I was circa 405 x 5 sucks, but that was before this slew of injuries
db bench 65s/80s/95s/105s x 12 post injury PR
rolling tris 45s/55s/65s x 10, 75s x 8
hammer strength incline 4 x 10
ring push ups 4 x 12-20, from various heights
precor machine chest press 3 x some, to finish shit off and work on range of motion
incline treadmill 25 min, heart rate around 130 most of the time
I have been a dipshit with a lot of stuff last seven weeks, not paying enough attention to lower recovery and foam rolling, etc, plus waves of the worst sinus shit ever had turned my appetite to shit for good food. plus the reliance on a lot of machine work for upper stuff I think has really decreased my calorie burn. feeling too bloaty and unhappy about where I am at. Adjusting right away, and will get back on track.
Good time to get on track for the new year. I’m fighting some sinus shit right now. Infection must be bad cause it gives low grade fever, constant localized headache and everything tastes like wood chips. Seems to slow recovery too. I’m seeing the doc Monday. Two weeks is enough for me.
Tricep must be close to 90% by now. Nice work.
