Deb, do you train at a reg gym too not just at home? Just curious about if/how/when you made the switch. Thanks for rockin the vids  <3

Chocolate and bacon can’t steer you wrong. Together, and they might be a person’s soulmate.

Congrats on bringing back the 80s.
It is all in your head because they looked fantastic to my untrained and uncoordinated eyes.
So keep it up <3

Hey thanks Edgy! =D

Thanks Nikki too!

I bought a membership at the sports facility (the only place in there are bumper plates and platforms) but I’ve only gone a few times  Otherwise I have always worked out at home.

I think I need to go workout with others but it’s mostly teenagers curling there and no oly lifters. I might have to go to crossfit if I want that (nooooooooo) I do need live feedback though :frowning:

nice work!

i can’t bring myself to try maple syrup with bacon because to my mind maple syrup is sweet and bacon is savory. i cringe a bit at bacon icecream for the same reason. but honey cured ham kinda sorta almost works… and pineapple on pizza is kinda sorta okay sometimes, too, so maybe…

congrats on getting your snatch back. frustrating when weights you know you can get simply won’t play.

wow those snatches are looking really great. I am going to take credit for all of them due to my helpful tip. :stuck_out_tongue:

your 2nd vid snatches are much much better, almost perfect! seriously go to 1:12 on your second vid. look at that. you notice how the bar just flings up there on a good snatch? ain’t that the best feeling ever?

my advice: control/be patient with your first pull, just like you are doing in the 2nd video (but not the 1st, you rush the pull right from the get-go). When you rush the first pull, you have a tendency to cave in the chest and let your butt came waaaay up, so by the time the bar is at your knees, your torso is literally parallel with the ground. not good, so keep doing it like you do in the 2nd vid!

damn I am impressed. you listen well.

Thanks Alexus!

:)))))

Thank you Andy! The tip was great. No rushing. Gotcha!

My workout was kind of light tonight. It was a long day at work and I was kind of fried. I didn’t finish my squats even.

snatch
bar
65x3
70x2
70x2
70x2
75x2
75x2
75x2

hang cleans - these suck!!
75x5
75x5
95x3 sucked!
85x5
85x5
85x5
95x3

front squats
130x5
140x4
155x3
155x2

Deb, I’ve been reading along and damn!..I’m impressed!

Hard work, smart planning, great technique. And a 155 front squat is a serious number.

I am also impressed with myself for not making a single SAMA-worthy comment. You don’t make it easy.

Great vids! Your movements make everything look like art.

lol giterdone, thank you

Hey Grns! hehe. They’re so much fun

Tonight, just back squats and I made 200lbs yay!

I’ve squatted 210 or 215 before but barely to parallel so 190 was my max at this depth so far.

back squats
140x5
155x5
160x4
165x3
170x3
185x2
190x1
195x1
200x1

Rawr!

congrats on how your squats are progressing! looking amazing, too!

Thank you! =D

Squatting almost everyday really seems to work. I don’t know how long I can keep it up but so far I’m okay for recovery. Except I’ve been up too late from being wired from lifting. It feels really good otherwise.

omnom.

First - congrats on the back squat - didn’t even look like a limit lift!

You may be on to something with ‘squatting almost every day really seems to work’. John Broz advocates this and those that I’ve read who’ve tried it agree. As well, I believe Koing is doing this too for his front squat. I am actually doing this myself. As long as the daily volume isn’t to high (work up to a max for the day then a few more doubles) I think this may drive up my lift totals. Well, that and plenty of ice for the knees

Hi debraD, I’ve just started doing snatches and am trying to soak up as much info as possible. Your videos have been really helpful. I envy your flexibility and technique and your strength is amazing. Great work.

As far as the squatting everyday goes, I did a spell of it before Christmas. I worked up to a daily max, took 90% of it and then did some doubles (a’la John Broz). I found that I recovered just fine (but then again I always squat at least 3x a week anyway) but as NWM said don’t let the volume get too high. Actually I only stopped it to do the RSR. After a week of it I felt tired but after 10 days it started to feel easy. Definitely give it a go!

Thanks NWM!

I am really surprised how good it actually feels. I thought it would be killing me. The lifting has gotten so much easier too. But I’m afraid to take a rest day and feel all the doms now lol.

Hi FarmerBrett! Thanks for the compliments! I am going to start doing the sets at 90% too. My volume for the squats has been fairly low I think. I might try the RSR one of these days.

I think if you keep the reps low (per Coach Broz) you don’t get the lactic acid build up that leads to the soreness.
Though Coach Broz also advises IF you take a day off from squatting then don’t go to an absolute max the next day. But I’ve only squatted Sat/Mon/Tue/Thur with no ill effects from no squats on Sun. or Wed. - I suppose this ‘squat everyday’ thing is easier when you have a rack and barbell in you own house (no trip to the gym) - I suspect you can probably get a good squat workout in under 25/30 minutes.

This made me think I may pose this question to Coach Pendlay and see what he thinks of daily squats.
