yeah, i think your back looks terrific, for what it is worth. i do know what you mean, though, about taking some time to come to peace with things. i remember feeling that way about my upper arms / shoulders after i started getting serious about the weights.

your cleans and snatches are really coming along. moving some serious weight (from my point of view) on the cleans, in particular.

I ran some sprints this morning and I perhaps overdid it :o) I went to the park and it was such a nice day. I ran a bunch of 200m, not sure how many, maybe 8-10 and I went full out as much as I could. So I went to front squat tonight and I had nothing. I managed to do 135x5, 155x3 and I went for 165x3 but didn’t make the second rep. So I went down to 160 and didn’t make the 2nd rep. And I gave up after that because my legs were useless. I’ll try again tomorrow.

The sprints were really fun, at least :slight_smile:

Awesome back picture. Traps are very standout-more than likely from all the OLY lifting you do.

That 135 C&J looked really easy. You didn’t even really need to do the front squat portion from the looks of it. The Jerk was very clean too. Awesome work!

i thought that GqArtGuy might suggest lower hips in the start position and then keeping them low (so basically getting and keeping your torso as upright as possible through the pull)… That is what he said to me, too. I’ve been working really hard on that. To start with it made the pull feel HARD. Like I was making a whole bunch of extra work for myself… Didn’t quite see the point… Until my snatch went from 33.5kg to 39.5kg over the space of a couple weeks. Largely… Because of that, I think.

Alexus! =) It’s funny how i correct one thing and create a new (or old thing) I lowered my hips tonight.

I’ve worked out the last couple of days but didn’t log them. I’m contemplating taking my log offline or just putting stuff in the Oly log. Not sure.

I logged tonight’s. It was a tough workout but a lot of fun.

The 20 snatches in 20 minutes were great. They were at a low enough weight that they were smooth for the most part and very satisfying. I had a couple of silly misses.

Hm. Its interesting about having too much air time. I thought the higher you jump the better…dang. Anyways, I don’t jump that high, so that’s probably what my coach tells me to get my fat ass off the floor. lol!

Btw, I’m so glad you got in-person feedback!! That’s awesome. You’re already a great lifter, so i’m sure more personalized critique will do wonders for you.

Anyways, the weights you put up are huge, and its great that you have the pull down - because I agree, if you can clean 140 (Fuck you btw, lol!) then all you need to do is jerk it! wink, wink Seriously though, your jerks look like they just need to be more deciscive. I wish I could just cattle prod you! You have the strength, just stop being such a scaredy cat! (not to be mean, but i swear this is probably you’re only flaw as of now).

I can’t remember if it was you or Lex, but have you ever thought of trying your hand at squat jerking? With your squats, you might be able to fucking kill the C&J…

Anyways, the snatches are looking great! No comment there. You’re dominating those and improving by the second.

The BTN push presses look good. What’s the purpose of doing those rather than just regular push presses?

I have a new fondness for Oly accessory work btw. I find it so much fun to just do random pieces of the lifts. lol!

  1. pump yo chest out higher throughout. This will shift the weight a little farther back, and the bar will move straight down.

  2. are you doing BTN push jerk or push press? In a push press, you do not drop under the bar after the drive. You get the bar going with the dip drive (as in the jerk), and then just press the rest of the way while keeping your legs straight-ish.

Mainy, they’re not too bad once you get a feel for them. I was a bit wobbly and awkward for the first couple of sets.

Hey Masch! Yeah my jerk is a problem area for sure. I think what I’m doing wrong mostly is trying to fix too many things at once and trying to think about too many things in that split second where I need to be fast. And of course, being a scaredy cat too =:o)

I can sure see how a good training environment would help to have someone yelling at you what you need to think about. Before I clean I am queuing up all the things I need to think about for both the clean and the jerk but trying not to overthink things but remember all of it GAH!

I’ve never tried squat jerking but I imagine it’s a lot like snatch balance. I definitely couldn’t put up the same weight with those because I get pretty unstable doing snatch at higher weights, no where near my clean and jerk weights. I’ve heard that few people are really good at squat jerking so I figured it wasn’t really worth training them when I could use the time to get better at split jerking. They look so badass though!!

The purpose of the BTN push presses is too train me to get a straighter jerk. It’s about catching it with a straight back as much as it is the pushing. Also to get a good feel for that position of the bar if my head is through. At least that’s how I understood it. Some people do BTN when they have an awkward time with regular push presses. Thanks for your comments! I always appreciate the thought you put into them.

Veggie, surprisingly I don’t feel a thing! I fully expected some soreness. Interesting for sure. I thought I could put on more weight but I was reluctant because I didn’t want to overdo it and regret it but it wasn’t a problem. The hip thing is still being a nuisance but not getting in the way of anything. I think it’s sloooowly going away.
