Thanks Veggie and Germanone! I had a bit of a rest yesterday but I probably need some more I’m realizing.
Alexus, that’s a great explanation and it helps a lot!
lol! thank you for that :))))

Yesterday I did a short workout between the Habs and the Canucks games and I wasn’t getting under the bar. I worked up to 85lbs and did a bunch of 85lb singles but power snatched every one of them, not on purpose. I think I was too fatigued and not fast enough? Not sure, but they weren’t pretty. I was also racing to get some good ones before the game started and probably wasn’t in the right frame of mind. I was going to go do some more after the game but I felt tired so I figured I needed to relax.
This morning I was going to go for a short run but my Ipod was dead so I did a few push presses but they were so hard lol I didn’t do many. I need to work on my set up. I think I did 95x5,105x5 and 110x3. I didn’t get a great sleep though. I’m pretty wired about a bunch of things and I tossed a lot and work up too early. I’m probably stressed but in a good way at least
Another thing that this lifting seems to help: reaction time catching assorted projectiles around the office! My guys have been trying to catch me off guard and nail me with nerf balls but to no avail, even though I’m sleepy as hell. I say Ha! I’m freakin Corey Crawford

That’s interesting because I’m currently learning to drop under snatches and I’ve noticed if I’m tired or lacking ‘zip’ in my legs or concentration I too revert back to a powersnatch. Which is odd because you’d think you’d need more power and speed to get the weight higher to powersnatch it. Go figure!
I said you are boss because you are catching it in a power snatch. This is good because that means big PRs are coming your way once you learn how to get under the bar faster and more fluidly. But when you snatch, try to get under it faster and catch it in a full squat position. A good way to get used to this is to do that when you are warming up with the bar. Whether if it is from the high hang, above knee, floor, just teach your body to get under the bar rapidly!

AM workout: Coffee and squats yay! =D
15lbs off and crawling under it and squatting in it up from the bottom and felt like a bad ass
Push Presses -I wanted to try some from the rack and see how heavy I could go without haven’t to clean them first. I’ll post video because I’m a little unsure when a push press becomes a push jerk? I don’t have a platform in front of my rack so I was a bit worried about dropping the weights so I think I was a bit underconfident. I was a little wobbly from the squats too I think. I’m going to see about getting some mats for in front of my rack so I can drop the weights. I did drop them on my 130lb attempt and that’s just not good for my floor. I screwed up and didn’t get my 130 miss on camera so just as well I missed!
Holy shit, those are some STRONG push presses. Not sure if I have already complimented you on these, but damn woman, that is really inspiring. I have really become obsessed with push pressing this year and I’d really like to hit 100 by the end of the summer. I’ll definitely be checking back on your log for motivation!

=D This is exciting :))) Hopefully I can do that soon!

Yeah it really seems to be related to how alert I am. I can do squats anytime and there isnt a huge difference from doing them fresh but with snatches its a really noticeable difference. Same if I’m not warmed up enough.
I had a decent day of rest yesterday, except for the morning presses, and I’m going to be back at it tonight after the hockey game.
It was really hard to not workout yesterday. I think that means I’m really enjoying myself
I picked up my 45s today and carried them from my car to my workout room. Does that count as a farmer’s walk? I let the guy from the store put them in my car though
Bah suck at getting under the bar now I can do it nicely it seems at lower weights.
I did get up to 95lbs on snatches again though so that’s good. Clean and jerks were decent. No squats today.
snatch
bar
70x3
75x3
80x2(missed one),3
85x2,2
90x1 - powersnatch
90x1 - again
90x0
90x1 - a bit better
95x1,1,0,0 - powersnatch ugh, then I just couldn’t get under the bar
i tried snatches after squats once and no could do. no pop at all.
don’t knock the powersnatches / think they aren’t as good as full snatches. especially when you are getting a good bar path on them. you will HAVE to drop yourself under them once the weights get heavy enough for you to not be able to pull them high enough. if you are getting the bar path right then you should find youself catching it good.
You’re brave to do the Oly lifts. I got up to like 105 on snatch (probably more of a muscle snatch) teaching myself a couple years ago, but after almost dumping it on my head figured I should probably stop without someone training me haha.
Thanks you guys. =) Blaze ouch! Hopefully I won’t do that
Hehe Missy and Espresso SweetCheeks
I just woke from the best nap ever. It’s seems I’m catching up! Coffee and a ten o’clock workout and hopefully some pancakes at Denny’s after. That’s the plan right now We’ll see how that goes.
I have two missions right now: get fast under the bar, snatches and cleans and get some decent jerks. Squats are not a priority and maybe a good time to deload them a bit while I recoup a bit. I say that today…It’s hard to take breaks from squatting cause I like them so.
I still got the irritating thigh thing, but it’s just an irritation but I hope it’s not going to be a problem. I’m denying it currently From my googling it sounds a lot like meralgia paresthetica Meralgia paraesthetica - Wikipedia
possibly from hitting my hip against the bar really hard. It’s tolerable but bothersome I guess. Probably time to see a doc but Dr. bodybuilder guy at the walk-in place isn’t there for a bit and I usually like to talk to him about injuries.

That doesn’t sound like much fun. Have you also ruled out ITB syndrome?
(Your jerks are awesome, btw).
Thanks Cal!
I’ve had something similar to ITB and it was a different kind of discomfort. This is a distinctive burning pain, with some numbness on my skin and some sharp stabbing pain. I get a pinched feeling sometimes too. When I hit the bar on my hip, it sent the same sharp stabbing pain down from my hip through my thigh and then when I was rolling the other day I went over my hip and hit the same tender spot. It doesn’t feel like a muscle or joint inflammation at all.
Now that I’ve made it sound really awful…it’s not all that bad.

Nice lifting. And hope the pancakes worked out last night.
Funny bit about catching nerf balls at the office. My boss and I toss tools around all the time. Quick reflexes FTW!
Good luck with the hip irritation. (I have a thing about actually calling things ‘injuries’, at least for myself.)
Haha! Me too. Injury shminjury!
Last night I did a bunch of snatches, not too heavy, just working on getting fast under the bar. I did a bunch of drop snatches, from the hang, slow from the floor etc. Just mucking around for and hour and a half, then I went for a 2 mile jog. Then we went to Denny’s
This morning I did some front squats and they were surprisingly easy! I think I might be adding more weight soon, except I was planning on going a bit lighter on squats…hmmm Nothing written in stone Maybe I was already going heavier with front squats, I’m not sure, I’ll have to look back at the log.

I took some measurements this morning and my butt is getting bigger :o
