They felt easy! I think I could have gotten the 100 if I hadn’t let myself freak out about it. But I was a spaz and lost my rhythm. I was thinking about HOOKS
I thought it was a bad thing I was catching it like that :o) Shows what I know!
I know I should take a rest day but I want to do more of them now before I forget how.
hey wow!!! congrats on the PB’s! looks like your snatch is really coming together. bar did a nice sweep back from the floor, too. WOW deb!!! and you could have powersnatches it too, rofl. damn you are strong.
Seriously though, that path tracking stuff is really cool, I’d love to try it with deadlifts and squats, and pretty much everything.

Ink: “See honey, notice the path that this rib makes from my plate to my mouth…wait, wait!..look at that arc!..beautiful.” (wife walking away) “that’s right, you chew that pork, good man - you chew it”
Thanks guys! I told some friends at work and they’re like “ah is that like over your head or is that the other one?” That’s what they said when I told them my squat PR though
Alexus, I’m glad you approve of the path! I’m still trying to wrap my head around this whole snatch/power snatch difference.
Powerpuff, they are even more fun to do, seriously! When they work, that is.
Mainy, ooh totally! I’m thrilled! It’s not a huge PR but I think it clicked and I know how to do it now…lets hope my arms don’t forget next workout. Heavy weights now!!!
Brute and Inky, I used software called Kinovea to track the bar. It’s pretty freaking cool! I want to get my cat to run amok and track her path, get her velocity and acceleration
Congrats! You have every right to be super excited regarding your snatching. Enjoy it. You worked hard for 'em.
I know what you mean about the rest thing too. Usually I lift 6 days/week and do something on the other day. Active recovery or whatever. Your body will tell you when you need a break.
Hope that your massage therapist is available soon. I’m not sure that I could function without all of the combined bodywork that I get.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around this whole snatch/power snatch difference.
A snatch is when you catch it in a squat. A powersnatch is when you catch it higher - in a half or quarter squat.
You catch it higher (powersnatch it) and then ride it down into a squat after you have caught it.
What that means:
In order to make the lift the bar needs to be pulled high enough for you to fit yourself down under it (assuming you are fast). I think it is round about shoulder height (when standing) for snatch and round about hip height (when standing) for clean. Thats why people can clean more than they snatch - you don’t have to pull the bar as high for the clean.
In the power versions of the lifts the bar needs to be pulled even higher in order for the lift to be made without the person having got themselves down really low under it. You pull the bar much higher than you need to in order to snatch it - which means you are capable of snatching much more.
It can be tempting to pull it different (try and pull it weaker) to get used to dropping under it fast. The problem with that strategy is it seems to result in a crappy bar path that can’t really be caught - at least that is what happens when I try and do it. Your bar path is looking really good. As the weights keep going up… Eventually you will have to drop under it in order to make the lift.
