I am doing it wrong :frowning:

Hehe MiM and Grns, x3!

Sorry the KFC ruined your workout. I just said yesterday that I wouldn’t mind their extra crispy chicken, but I think I’m gonna decide against it :P[/quote]

Thanks Nikki
It’s a shame because I do love it so. I think part of the problem for me is that I have such an enormous appetite that the amount of KFC I can put away means enough salt for 3 days.

Or it’s because I’m doing it wrong and my snatches are all rows and my cleans are just jumping curls!

I think that may be true…

Saturday’s workout

I did all my snatches slowly up to mid thigh and worked on extending properly instead of ‘rowing.’ The rowing is totally subconscious so it’s hard to say if I’m kicking the habit. I did a decent 85lb snatch slowly from the ground that I don’t think would have worked if I was using my arms so maybe it’s getting better. Andy, I have no idea what my knees are doing ever :stuck_out_tongue: I have no idea where to even start thinking about what they should be doing. It was weird trying to.

I attempted a couple at 90lbs and while they weren’t even close they’re a lot closer than they were  I think I should be doing those real soon! I had trouble with 80’s last week and now they’re quite easy. I’m hoping I’m getting some better technique and not just getting stronger!

snatches
bar
65x3 from hang
65x3 with pause
65x3 slowly for the rest
65x3
70x3
70x3

85x1 - power snatch*
85x0 - bleh
85x0
85x1 - barely
85x1 - barely again!
85x1 - better
85x1
90x0 - not even close!
90x0
85x0
80x0

155x4
170x3
180x3
185x2
190x2

note KFC (and a lot of other crap I ate yesterday) might have ruined yesterday’s workout but I think it was good for today because I had a lot of energy.

damn, you are strong, that just flew up. i don’t have any advice because i’m not sure what i’m doing at the moment… nice to see vids though  that was a lot of snatches!

We’re crossposting again! Thanks. I was going to piece them all together for a vid but it was too many!

yep, that is a lot! nice cleaning and jerking and squatting, too.

To me, that last vid looked better. Your set-up was tighter and it looks like you really used the tension in your hamstrings to start up off the floor, rather than pulling up with your arms.
BTW, I watched 40 girls yesterday at a meet (all with coaches) and comparably, your technique is pretty damn good. One thing I’m going to nag at again is the amount of air time you are getting (previous vids). You are strong and that excess energy that you are expending by jumping so high is not holding you back, not yet. Practice power snatch from the knees some maybe, I bet your feet stay more grounded, the lift will be more stable and that’s going to help when the weight gets heavy.

Thanks Diana! I will give the power snatches a shot and post vids. I haven’t done any power snatches (on purpose) so it will be interesting to see how that goes…

I also think I’ll try and stick with slow from the floor for a few workouts and train myself to get that right.

LOL so KFC has a delayed effect lol

What a session. And your avvie is still awesome to look at.

Yours too!

Friday’s junk always fuels a strong Saturday!

I did a 5 mile run this morning that felt really good and I needed it for stress management  But it really drained me tonight I think. Even after a round at the dutch pancake house!

Sundays workout

I tried power snatches and I don’t know if I was doing them right but it was hard to not jump. Then I started to get used to them (felt like I might have been using my arms at times however) and they were kind of fun but it all fell apart after a couple at 80 lbs. My snatches were kind of weak so I just did a bunch of squats (squats were really hard!)

power snatch from hang
65x3
70x3
70x3
75x2
75x2
80x2
80x0
80x0

snatch (slow from ground)
70x3
70x3
75x2
75x2

b squats
145x5
160x5x5

Much less kicking up the heels here. Look at 1:31, you extend and and shuffle your feet out to the side a bit. Lifts from the knees I always find harder, you don’t have the same power generated from the floor. If you feel like you are pulling up with your arms, just try and focus on the hamstrings, that’s where the power is.
Did you ever get in touch with the former weightlifting team guy who lives nearby to you?
it really looks like you are having a lot of fun with these lifts, it’s a joy to watch.

That was a ton of snatches on Saturday!

How do you decide how many reps you’re going to do? Do you have a set amount or make it up as you go along?

Great work in here.

The body you have built is perfect…you are my role model.

That is all.

Your snatches are works of art.

Love the snatching. So cool to watch.

New avi really is bangin’… keep up the good work!
