and the 8 pullups were NOT easy! i’m seriously trippin i managed them. my bw is in the high 130’s… low 140’s depending on time of day… and i’m not packing on nearly the muscle i was when i was lean and in the low 120’s. but i’m pounding the hell out of my upper back and it seems to be payin off in pullups. ![]()
yah hallowed this is the time of year i can really lock down the nutrition. i know it seems bizarre but around nov/dec i get tired of the nonstop beer consumption that comes from the first day of spring, through all the summer shenanigans, and then nfl shenanigans, etc. and not having a bunch of holiday shit to go to cuz i’m new here really helps the ability to go monkhole. but yah i’ll be mostly low calories, carbs around workouts, prolly mostly IF style eating until i get lean enough i can jump up in down and not gag watching my belly. lol
am definitely leaning out slowly but surely. arms are starting to look less like blobs. boobs are going fast, and love handles are going slow, but they’re going. day after day after day of work and i might be where i wanna be by spring. :+)
christmas package came from gma. all kinds of sweets n shit.
so i slept a few hours. cut off a big slice of banana bread. drank three cups of coffee. ate 5 chocolate covered pretzels. tossed all the junk food and headed to the garage to maybe do some high rep dls.
well my calluses are still babies and the coooold barbell was killing them so i ended up scrapping the high reps and going heavy. big surprise! oh deadlifts, how i’ve missed thee. damn!!
ended up doing:
hip mobility, whole bunch of band walks and bw squats
bb dls: 185 x 12; 225 x 6; 255 x 3; 305 x 1
headed to the ex’s tomorrow to get all my plates and barbell and whatever parts of the squat rack i can manage to fit in my small car.
the plates/barbell alone are worth the 4 hour trip.
think i need a pwo black n tan. mmmmm. off work til at least sunday night. so stoked!

went fine. i was able to say my piece and we had a good talk. i ended up staying the night up there. one of our friends was over so we sat around drinking beer and watching football. it was all good.

so fuckin aunt flo is trying to visit and seems she brought with her an appetite! i haven’t had one of these in ages. all i have in the house is clean food (and a fat variety of craft brews), so i’m gonna do a lot of random lifting and eat whatever i want and likely drink a few beers.
only got a couple hours of sleep so i’m sure i’ll lay around half the day. borrowed the hangover 2 so that should kill some time.
first random workout was neutral grip pullups. managed to work up to top sets of:

eh just have a short, strongish back and long arms. think my deadlift remained strong despite never training it because my legs and upper back have gotten stronger than they were back in the day. really gotta get serious about leg training…but i’m having fun just strength training for the mental/lean benefit and don’t really care lol.
i did just order a trap/hex bar so will start doing a lot of pulling with that and hopefully build mah leg strength more with those.
naw, masch, don’t think i’m interested in doing a meet. although i did have a blast in the grip competition i did. but really just lift cuz i find it extremely fun, find it makes me feel like a million bucks, and hope it makes me look better naked. and it makes doing day to day stuff easier. and now i have to think about the fact i’m sedentary stuck in a crane cab for 12 straight hours a day…so have to counterbalance that nonsense.

woo hoo!!! told myself when i woke up this morning i’d do 10 consecutive neutral grip pullups. lazed around half the day, made myself a giant pan of peppered bacon, cracked a belgian beer, and whipped the goal into submission!!! yah buddy. bw is just under 140 too. so for me that’s sittin pretty damn heavy. yay!

used my home barbell so i now know what my accurate benching strength is at. shows i was guessing the gym’s barbell pretty accurately.
upper back was TOAST after all the pullups i’ve been getting in and then those bent rows. could barely squeak out those pullup reps and probably shouldn’t of even snuck em in. oh wellz.
time for a shower and then a cold brew to celebrate the winter solstice. i sOOOO need a fire to dance nekkid around. hooray for the days starting to get longer and longer. can’t wait for spring and winter hasn’t even begun. monkhole, baby.
Yeah, I hate the fucking dark more than the cold. It starts getting dark here at 3.30pm. Yuck.

aunt flo’s imminence compelled me to eat a few servings of clean carbs (fruit, brown rice, grits) this afternoon. decided i ought to get in another workout to put em to use and that way if i don’t get back under the iron til christmas, cuz i work the next two days, i’ll be golden.
haven’t had a bar on my back in months. think it’s been over 8 months. damn.
