It's a Dog's life

Wado class tonight. Had a good session until sparring with an 8th kyu (1st rank beyond white belt). Managed to block a hard kick with an open hand (not recommended). Dislocated the middle joints of the first two fingers on my left hand. Had Sensei pul them back into place and finished the last 15 minutes of class. Not swelling too much now - we’ll see how much of a grip I have tomorrow for upper body day… [/quote]

OUCH! Hope they get to feeling better.Nice box squats.Have a great weekend.

They are getting better, still no grip with the left hand.

You too - Have a great weekend with the crew!

A1: BB Military press 45x15, 65x10, 75x5

Not happy with this but that’s all she wrote tonight.

Shldr rehab & YTWL 10#x10reps ea
Box Squat barx10, 135x5, 185x5, 205x3, 225x3/3/3

GMs 135# 3x10
Sissy Squats BW+20 3x15 (Still getting the hang of these)
Sumo DLs 115x5, 205x5
Those damaged finger joints are getting better but can’t handle much just yet.

The video is the last set of box squats and the last rep felt like a real grinder. I notice that my hips are coming up too fast and I still have some chicken winging happening.

Dog-- nice box squats!

Sumo DL is my M.O. these days-- how you like those?

I’m finding them much easier on lower back and since I have enough hip flexibility they work my hips but don’t tear them up.

School function tonight so I miss Wado class. Did do 45 minutes of slush shoveling when I got home. What was left from yesterday’s 4 inches of snow.

Bench 45x10, 65x10, 85x10, 105x10, 115x5, 135x5/5/5/5/11
(my son was working in with me thru 115 which is why so many warm up reps. And obviously since I got 11 reps on the 5th set at 135, I picked too low a number to start my 5x5 progression)

BB Military press 45x150 65x10/10/10
(These feel like they will do good things for my shoulders)

Pull-ups 5/5/5 (palms away, no thumbs - why? I don’t know)
(finger joints on my left hand are doing better but are still swollen and sore)

BB Curlz 65x6/4
(these are weak and hurt my left elbow and right shoulder. I’ll go to neutral grip DB curlz and probably start doing a arms only day.)

My son did some abs while I warmed up, the bench and biked a while. I told him anything is better than nothing. I’m happy to have him working with me since he has his mother not speaking to him. I swear she doesn’t do either part of “forgive and forget”.

Made it last night, finally learning kata and figuring out the differences from the ones I know.

Had to miss myself tonight as well, took everyone bike riding.

Guess I have all the time in the world for working out, but kids grow up.

You bet - with one in college and my son in 9th grade, there aren’t that many years left.

Stuff I did 20 years ago still comes up!

Never hesitate to go canoeing with your kids

Wado class last night was intense to say the least. Hard enough on my legs that it will make lower body weight training tonight “interesting”.

We are currently under a Winter Storm Warning along the Front Range to the tune of 18-36 inches of snow from this afternoon to Saturday. Winter just came late this year…

Great teaining soldog. Im’m glad your sprig is everbody elses winter!!

Somehow this turned into endurance day. I put some sprints and hill climbs in there somewhere. My butt bones are sore now…

A1: Hammer curl 30# each arm 3x10
A2: DB tri-extension 30# each arm 3x10

B1: front raise 10# 3x10
B2: side raise 10# 3x10

Snow, that sucks. Seems to be a lousy spring for everyone. It will change soon, I hope!

Snow, that is a rough spring.
Here in the north east it seems very spring like.

nice training.

Springtime in the Rockies gentlemen! This year we are glad to see it after an extremely dry winter along the front range. Good thing I have tomorrow off, we’ve had about 5 inches so far.

Skid gets a free power cage. You live in the Rockies and could go climbing whenever you want. Me, I’m working 4 'til midnight. Life ain’t fair, I tell ya!
