It Vexes Me. I'm Terribly Vexed

What work do you do and about how much do you make in a year (I know it’s less than 220k lol)?

I am a third party administrator for 401(k) plans. Legal office stuff with excel and numbers and accounting things. I make well less than 220k lol. I don’t make 6 figs yet, but hopefully I will before too long. There are people doing the job that do. My income is relatively modest for “middle class” at the moment.

I saw Generation Iron yesterday afternoon. I think it was the very last showing in Knoxville. It actually didn’t motivate me at all to train, but it did motivate me to EAT.

I went home and immediately consumed 1800 calories, including 120 grams of protein. This was solely through protein powder, canned tuna, natty peanut butter, and whole milk. I don’t like to cook. Prior to that I had only eaten about 1200 calories and 80 grams of protein for the day (that is the nutrient content of IHOP’s breakfast sampler).

From now on I am going to make a concerted effort to get 250 grams of protein every day. I don’t know if it’s necessary, but I’ve never tried it, and I should. I would estimate that my normal diet for the past long while has been at most 150g per day. It’s also funny how in order to get 250 grams of protein it seems like your calorie and other macro intake just sort of fall into place. For me to eat that much protein doesn’t leave tons of room for excess carbs or fat and it takes a lot of calories just to get there.

I don’t know if this will affect building strength at all, but maybe it will help me build muscle in my legs. Everyone who sees me thinks I’m 220 or 230. And then I have to be like “No, I’m only 200 it’s just that I have chicken legs…”

Solid Benching dude. 335 went up fast. I like the way you set-up for you Benching as well. I know you moved from feet tucked under you to feet flat and out wider. I’m making the same transition, my try to set-up similar to you today.

Also I’ve never read any of the Conan books, so I guess I’m going to have to now. lol

Quoted for urgency, there’s only one left

I just attempt to eat a lot of peanut butter, ground beef, and rice

DUDE, I had a fucking shake last night. It consisted of like 3 cups of whole milk heavy cream, a cup of oats, 3 ginormous heaping mounds of thick-ass fucking natural peanut butter with an offensive amount of ice cream (chocochipz). I then blended it up and poured it into a soup bowl and ate because it was so fucking thick. It had to be like 2k calories because I then preceded to just add some fucking coconut oil to it. I swear to god dude it was so disgusting to eat. Not because of the taste, but the fact that I was actually fucking eating it.

Supple 6

Deadlift:
135 3x
225 3x
315 3x
405 2x
455 1x
477.5 2x My training partner got some Ivanko 1.25lb plates (bout .5 kilo) so I had to throw them on lol. This set fucking sucked by the way. Very disappointing how difficult it was. My form felt awful.
405 3x
405 3x
405 3x Massive form improvement. Quite fast reps.

Stiff Leg Deadlift:
405 5x
405 5x PR. Beltless. I actually don’t think I’ve ever even done 405 stiff legged. So two beltless sets of 5 was like a PR party.

Did a couple more singles just with 405 continuing to work on form.

Some sets of 25 and one of 30 on hyper extensions.

A few sets of 5 on supinated grip pull downs.

9 sets of 3 paused bench with 275 and a 10th set of 5.

Some face pulls.

Honestly I got pissed about that top deadlift set and stopped paying much attention to what I did.

I find it humurous you train with your shirt off yet can’t find anywhere to perform farmers walks, your killing me. Good work your getting strong

Not sure I understand why those two things are mutually accordant haha. I have plenty of room to do walks, I just haven’t done them in a long while. We don’t have good handles, which would be probably my next gym purchase. I usually use a trap bar instead. And I only do bench press sets over 85% or so shirtless or if I am going for a rep PR at any weight. I can get much, much tighter on the bench that way. But most of the time I am fully clothed lol.

Deadlift:
135 3x
185 1x
225 1x
275 1x
315 1x
365 1x
405 1x
455 1x
495 1x I really wasn’t satisfied with how deadlifts went yesterday so I did them again. 495 moved relatively quickly.

Press:
45 10x
95 5x
115 5x
135 5x
155 3x
170 1x
180 2x PR
155 5x
155 5x

Many side raises.

Plus 2 cool points for female spotter! Nice Pr on the press I want to get 170 ish soon Current pr is around 150.

I thought you were worried of looking weird at the gym carrying around dumbells but when you were benching with your shirt off i realized it wasn’t the case. Yeah it would be good to have some type of thick grips for doing walks.

Hey, Csulli, do you know if lifting with a shirt on is mandatory at meets?

You have to wear a singlet.

Great job on the 495lb deadlift and the press PR!

I was just thinking about our earlier conversation on what humans are capable of and what we’re evolved for physically. I’m really fascinated by the topic and I’d like to hear more about your views on it. You mentioned evidence against humans being adapted for long-distance running and I’d be really interested to see that and any other information you might have. Do you see strength as a large component of paleo-man’s capabilities?

Sorry if it’s a weird question lol. Hope you’re doing well.
