It Vexes Me. I'm Terribly Vexed

I also found really heavy weighted carries for long distances to help too for lat development. Heavy sandbag/keg stuff, and stones. Anything where you’re in a constant state of keeping something really fucking heavy from falling away from your body.

Thanks man! I’ve just been riding the high rep deadlifts until I can’t anymore, and also I’m making it a priority to do more upper back work than I have in the past. Makes for some great back sessions so far.

This has been my experience. I don’t feel them working my back. Maybe they’re magically hitting it better than anything else, but it doesn’t feel that way while I’m doing them. I think I’ll keep doing them for a while though just to see if something happens.

I give my monitor menacing glances at that deadlift session. Fack I got a long way to go! Where are your batteries installed? Do you do hot yoga or something? Must have foam rolled balls to perculate extra test.

We did these with a light band wrapped around our waist to provide resistance.

I call them Chia chins, because he’s the only one at our gym who started doing em and then like a bunch of other people were like “ermahgawd these are great!” We lean way back and pull the chest up high so that your body is arced.

LOL Did these in high school. Precognition.

Where oh where can I get me a pair of those pants!

Sqwut:
315 2x
365 2x Fell into the same old trap of making a form change and thinking it works great, but in reality you’ve just never done anything but light weight with it lol. I’m so stupid. What I thought felt better with a higher bar position in reality just felt better because there wasn’t any fucking weight on the bar.

ha. One day I will collect all my technique “epiphanies” from my logs that turned out to be nothing but shit. Nothing is worse - truly soul-crushing.

lol well at least I’m not the only one

Paused Bench:
45 10x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
275 3x
295 1x
315 3x PR; best set of paused bench I’ve ever done. Forgot to turn the damn camera on though.
295 4x Did another set just so I could film this time it and check my form.

Spoto Bench:
225 15x Okay these are starting to feel silly. I’m not even sure these any harder than touch and go bench for me. I really like the idea of these, but it doesn’t seem like this is a weak point for me, and so I’m not sure this exercise is actually accomplishing anything.

Weighted Derps:
BW 5x
+45 5x
+90 5x
+135 5x PR
+90 8x
+90 8x

My lifting schedule got all mixed up from the holidays, so I was supposed to squat yesterday. I deadlifted the day before though, and I squatted the day before that, so I was like “No.” and I worked late instead. So I’m making up for squats today, and I’m gonna fix my schedule back starting next week.

Squat:
45 5x
135 5x
185 5x
225 5x
275 3x
315 2x
340 5x
340 5x
340 5x Not that bad for me I guess. Didn’t feel great when my training partner, who is lighter than me, did the same weight for a 5x5 all beltless and paused though…

GHR:
BW 10x
BW 10x
BW 15x

What day was it again? Oh yea, upper body day.

Press:
45 10x
135 5x
157.5 5x
157.5 5x
157.5 5x
157.5 5x
157.5 5x Yes I used 1.25lb plates.

Cable Flies:
3 sets of 10

Incline Machine:
4 sets of 10

Rope Pushdowns:
3 sets of 10 plus a final drop set of 15 with 4 drops and 8-15 reps at each drop

Here’s the paused benching:

I am extremely happy that my butt clearly stayed in contact with the bench. I’m not that happy however with my pause length. I didn’t realize they were that short lol. Something to keep in mind for the future.

Dips with 135:

Was actually feeling really cocky about these when all the sudden on the last rep the triceps did a little nope.avi on me. Didn’t feel too bad still. Gonna keep pushing the weight on these.

For me to be finally kewl I have got to perfect that kip to standup that all the strong benches do at the end of their set…

Goooooooooooooood.

A Dalek gif! I think this is the beginning of a beautiful bromance! Semi srs.

I hope you don’t mind me posting a link to my dip video in your log.
It would be a video instead of just a link but…okee silly dokie-o, I’m an idiot!

Ah nicely done!

Nice dips bro, I found I am sticking now in triceps on my bench and not chest. What are you fave tricep builders? dips? Im starting close grip again as well.

In high school, good ole Vinny could dip 3 plates for sets of 5. I was about 180lbs back then with a 335lb bench.
