I’m always impressed with how much volume you do in each session, how long did it take you to build up to that?

Keep up the great work

Coan Philippi eh

Ha! I knew it. Not directed at you, Chris.

Even coan phillipi for life shall not save you from my ravenous growth of the deadlift, Csulli!

Thanks!

I’m not really sure how long it took me, but I actually don’t think it was that long. Just a few weeks probably. I never really made a concerted effort to improve my work capacity and volume. I just really love training so I spend a lot of time enjoying myself at the gym.

The gain train has never been the same after we lost Mike Hedlesky from the gain train. :frowning:

But damnit, everyone get on the gain train!

Where do I buy the tickets for the gain train?

Here’s a vid of that day at Gold’s doing deadlifts with the slippery bar:

9/23/2013

Squat:
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
275 3x
315 1x
340 1x
360 3x Very easy. Left a couple in reserve.
275 5x
275 5x
315 5x Last rep paused for a 2 count.

Squats felt incredibly good today. I probably should have taken more advantage and pushed it.

Squats From Pins: Never, ever tried these.
405 1x
455 1x
495 1x Eh I dunno. This exercise didn’t wow me.

Played around with the big tire a bit, and I actually learned that form where you squat down and get your chest and shoulders on the tire and like squat it up. Pretty cool.

Hyperextensions:
BW 15x
BW 15x
BW 15x Did all these reps extremely slow trying to make my lower back healthy.

Bench: I know it’s not bench day, but I can literally never resist when my training partner does it.
135 10x Training partner said my form looks completely different and infinitely better than it ever has before.
185 5x
225 5x
255 5x
275 3x
295 2x
315 1x Very explosive. Fastest 315 has been in a long time.
295 3x
275 4x
255 5x
225 10x

My training partner said my form was like night and day better than it was before. I did have a couple sets where I set my feet too far back and so my butt was off, but if I keep my feet farther forward it seemed to be okay.

Anyway I just focused really hard on squeezing my shoulder blades together and tightening the crap out of my upper back and rear delts. Who knew that worked so well? (besides everyone)

I didn’t hit any weight or rep PR’s today, but this was easily the best training day for me in recent memory. It wasn’t the weight or the reps, but everything I did felt lighter, faster, and easier than ever before. There was zero grinding; I just obliterated every set.

It’s private, mayne.
