Funny you should mention that. I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately. I’ve been slowly leaning out for a little bit now, and I’m going to continue to do so. I’m giving up on the idea of being 200lbs lean for the moment. It’s not exactly as realistic as I once thought it was. A lean 200lbs for a 5’9" natural is actually pretty damn rare apparently ![]()

I’m sure it is rare, but I dunno man I’d have thought you could get quite close. You’re a beast for sure, and please don’t take this the wrong way, but if anything I think you have the potential to add some significant size to your lower body. I don’t know, I’m clearly no expert and I guess this whole “limits” topic is a bit taboo lol, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see you do it. Keep up the good work :).
I recommend ditching the belt on strict press.

I mean for reference RB Reggie Bush, he’s listed at about 6’0", 205. He’s pretty lean (but not like ‘can’t consistently walk around this lean’ lean), big dude. Obviously structure, muscle bellies, genetics, other phaggotry go into it, but he looks pretty fucking ideal IMO. So scale that down I suppose for a 5’9" fella, same muscle mass/fat ratio and shit, it would be like 185ish maybe? Like him being 6’0’, barely over 200 lbs would be called ‘small’ often times on Tnation, but that’s a big dude.
Point is, don’t get caught up on the weight. I know it’s hard not to, but if you get lean you’ll look pretty sick. You have a thick base, you’re shorter, and from what I can tell you don’t have orangutan arms/legs so you’ll look big even at a lower bodyweight.
Ohh, btw, I’ve been setting up on the Bench press the way you have in videos recently, seriously for the first time in my life I can consistently get leg drive WHILE feeling stable on the bench press. So thanks. Idk why I’ve never set-up like that before, it’s not like you do anything extremely special I suppose, but seriously it’s like night and day setting up that way for me. lol. So thanks
Found it. These two were what I read by him.
Oh, I never received an answer from you about that race for the overhead press. Six reps at body weight, are you in?
Note: I may, or may not claim you have a vagina that has acquired sand if you decline my invitation to the race. ![]()
Thaks csulli, i tryed goodmorning this morning lol anyway for the first time ever, 185x3x10 my hams and low back are wrecked. Iève never liked them, butr anyone thats strong does them so what ever. goodstuff at the meet latter

Yeah I’d agree that not focussing on scale weight is important, but it is so hard to do. I was demoralised when I cut from 230lbs to 210lbs and still had barely any hint of abs, but I looked better and didn’t lose strength and that’s all that matters really.
In fact being lighter is probably a good thing. Reaching your lifting and physique goals at 185lbs rather than 200lbs is probably better for athleticism and health.
I’m just really rambling now, sorry.

I’ll be the first one to tell you that I have the upper body of a 220 and the lower body of like a 165 lol.

Dude awesome! That just made my day haha.
11/10/2013
Did 5 sets of 10 pull-ups and 5 sets of 20 dips in the park earlier.
Fat Grip Swiss Bar Curls:
115 for 4 sets of 8
Rack Pulls Below the Knee: A guy from the good gym needed to lift so he let me and Chia in. He was doing deadlift stuff so I lifted with him a little bit.
135 3x
225 2x
315 2x
405 2x
495 2x beltless PR I think from that height.
Overhead DB Triceps:
110 for 4 sets of 10
DB Preacher Curls:
50’s for 7 sets of 10
3" Deficit Deadlifts:
225 3x
315 3x
405 3x
455 1x beltless PR. Super easy, but I really didn’t feel like doing any more of these.
Rope Pushdowns:
Like a million sets of a million
Lying Down Cable Curls:
5 sets of 10
DB Shrugs:
110’s for 4 sets of 20
I don’t feel like I accomplished anything in the gym today. I wasn’t focused and I just did a bunch of whatever. I did set a couple beltless PR’s though lol, because I was too lazy to go get my belt out of the car.
How long have you known Chia pet?

A strong suggestion Your Rawness. Unfortunately pressing hurts my lower back injury place worse than anything ![]()
Two best feeling exercises on my low back:
squats and deadlifts
Two worst feeling exercises on my low back:
press and bench press
I’ll throw a belt on for bench at like 185 some days lol.

You know I am mostly messing with you, right? Also, we’ll just have to race to a 255 push press, or something. That one will be a little more fair. ![]()
Also that is really awesome about you, and chia.

Deadlift only on December 14 near Atlanta
Full power on March 8 in Knoxville
11/11/2013
Squat:
45 10x
135 5x
185 5x
225 5x
275 3x
315 3x
360 5x PR
275 5x
SSB Front Squat:
135 5x
135 5x
135 5x
135 5x
Glute-Ham Raise:
BW 5x
BW 8x
BW 8x
BW 10x Look I did GHR instead of leg curls! I’m a real powerlifter now!
Bulgarian Split Squat:
BW 10x
60lbs 10x
BW 10x
Calf Raises:
3 sets of 20 I dunno why I did these. I don’t know what calves are even good for beyond aesthetics.
Ab Wheel:
3 sets of 10
11/13/2013
Bench:
45 40x
95 20x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
255 3x
285 8x rep PR at this weight. Wasn’t planning to go for a rep PR (or I would have filmed), but during the set I realized it was there so I took it. Solid 8; don’t think I had 9 though.
Paused Bench:
315 1x Super easy. Need to make sure I’m good with paused pressing though, so I’m going to be doing it every time.
slingshot engage
365 1x Kind of a joke with the slanger. Need to throw on 4 plates one of these days with it and give 'er a ride.
slingshot disengage
275 4x
275 4x a little paused volume, felt good.
DB Incline:
75’s 12x
85’s 8x
85’s rest pause, 10x, 5x, 2x
Cable Flies:
4 sets of 15 (less than 30s rest between sets)
DB Shoulder Press:
65’s 8x
55’s 12x
55’s rest pause, 12x, 6x, 3x
Lateral Raises:
25’s for 4 sets of 12 (less than 30s rest between sets)
Front Raises:
25’s for 4 sets of 10 (less than 30s rest between sets)
I never do front raises, and I don’t think I ever will again. I couldn’t find a way to actually feel these in my delts more than my biceps.
DB Rear Delts:
25’s for 4 sets of 12 (less than 30s rest between sets)
Dips:
BW 20x (I was hoping I’d be fatigued enough to just use BW, but evidently that’s impossible)
+45 10x
+45 10x
Skull Crushers:
95 for 4 sets of 8-10 (less than 30s rest between sets)
Rope Pushdowns:
4 sets of 10-12 (less than 30s rest between sets)
This is more or less what bench day will look like from now on.
