I elected to do Poliquin’s Super-Accumulation Program as kind of a personal challenge to end my summer and for various other reasons. I went balls to the walls for 2 weeks. Felt bad and pretty destroyed but not to the degree Poliquin described. I didn’t really loose my appetite and I never got really moody. Just extremely sore.
My offweek was not followed to the letter as school had started and timing when to eat was challenging. I still tried to stay at it best I could.
However, by about 3 days off I had absolutely no appetite, I have been snapping at people like crazy and have felt awful. I thought the off week was supposed to be when one would feel great?
I took my 5 days off and got amped up to PR.
I almost got stapled during 2 warmup reps with 75% of my max taken before the program. It’s obvious to me I haven’t even come close to full recovery.
(Out of frustration I still set a 25lb deadlift PR, but I think it could have been way more than that if I felt good).
Now I’m at day 7. I tried a widestance bodyweight boxsquat (12") and could barely do it.
The whole program I was doing maximal range of motion. ATG front squats, Deep back squat, Snatch-grip deads on a platform.
My flexibility right now is pitiful and I can’t comfortably full squat. Even on the box squat I had insane amounts of torque in my knees and hips.
I have been stretching, foam rolling, and dynamic flexibility.
Oh and I haven’t actually felt “hungry” in almost a week. I just eat because I look at the clock and know I need to. Then I feel miserable after eating.
Any advice on what to do to salvage my efforts would be greatly appreciated.
With all of the effort that I put in I would love to see some of the amazing gains that I have read about, however at this point I want to just get back training, whether or not I see any special gains.
Thanks guys.
