I just don’t get it would it hurt to do more sets on biceps? I know it not “functional” but it looks good and I realize powerlifting is about getting strong but why are so many people against it? I been doing 5/3/1 and doing 5 sets of biceps after my other 2 accesory workouts. I thinking of doing this 2 times a week. I would like to hear your opinions on this subject.
Man, their just biceps.
Train them if you want, don’t train if you don’t want to.
Not a big deal.
Nothing wrong with training biceps. It likely won’t help your total, but it certainly isn’t going to hurt. If you don’t mind spending 10 minutes doing this, then go for it.
I don’t know who’s against it, I think a lot of people just don’t do it because they don’t feel like it.
It could potentially increase your pressing strength, albeit lightly, as the biceps is a weak contributor to shoulder flexion.
The major consideration is to not do biceps within two days prior to deadlifting, as I (and many others) have found that doing any significant bicep work will lower your grip strength for the next 48 hours while your forearms recover.
If it works add it in. If not, ditch it. Long as it doesn’t take away from your main lifts, its a valid exercise.
It seems like a lot of powerlifters want to ‘look good naked’ once they have spent years gaining muscle mass.
You might as well train them. It doesn’t take much time, isn’t too taxing on the CNS, and the girls like biceps. Anything that girls like is cool in my book.
it depends on how long you plan on being at a beach in the summertime. Less than a week, biceps once a week. more than one week, 2 times a week. I live at a beach so I have to train biceps everyday. I actually have an ME Biceps day. Dynamic day was too taxing on my Peripheral Nervous System.

You sure about that?

So can I do ME biceps in place of ME squats? It’s not like anyone can see my legs in swimshorts.

hahaha so good. TO the OP, I add in 5 sets of 10-20 reps on the preacher curl each week if I feel like it. The whole point is to not go crazy with the assistance work.

I dig this post!
I did not train mine much at directly for about 5yrs but I started to notice tweeks when I squat or do other movements. So I add them in at the end of a workout when I’m doing pull ups, I’ll finish with some bicep movements. Feeling better and like the man said…“CHICKS MANNN”

Unless it’s wear short shorts because that just makes you cry into your pillow.
I ADMIT IT! I train biceps! I do a few curls at the end of upper body sessions, somebody shoot me. They have some uses and they look pretty, why not?
