Seems every 6 mo. or so someone digs up that pic of Arnold. People, that was taken a few months after his heart surgery – which was about a decade ago. The only thing sad about that photo is Arnold’s choice of swimwear.

That pic is at least 8 years old. I’m sure Arnie is still in pretty good shape, but not to the extent of Stallone or Ferrigno(who is still huge).

Instead of noting the picture, instead note the fact that dude was born in another country, learned our language, became Mr. Olympia, became a movie star, and is now governor of a state that would be the 4th largest economy in the world if it was a country.

Ferrigno looked like shit at the Olympia back in September. No arms, hunched over walk, face full of wrinkles and bags.
I have no idea how he looks right now, though.

As others have said, the man had just had heart surgery not long before that was taken. Seems I remember Arnold even laughed about those pictures when they were released to the pap rags. I’d be laughing too if I even accomplished 1/10th in my lifetime of what he has in his.

RJ, a little off-topic, but did you happen to see Bill Pearl or Larry Scott at the O? Seems I’ve heard those guys are still pretty yoked, considering their age.
I seen that pic on some show on E. They said it was due to an illness or surgery, somehting. That was before he get ready to do Terminator 3. So he got back in shape after the pic came out.

I’m pretty well aware my mom is going to die one day. The simple fact that I’m not denying it does not make it any less depressing to think about.

If you are like most humans, while you may ACKNOWLEDGE that someone you love may die one day, it is rarely ACCEPTED until the event of losing them. This is why we illogically cry for those who die from long term painful illnesses when we know that person would be in more pain had they lived.
When my grandmother died, she had been dealing with intense pain and the humiliation of having others do things for her for about 4-5 years. She was no longer in pain. She no longer had to fight to catch her breath. If I had actually accepted her death, then I would no longer cry at the thought of her. I would be happy at the thought of her not being in pain anymore.
The thought of your mother possibly dying one day will be pushed to the back of your mind by the end of the day. You will deny it and keep it there until the actual event takes place. This would be why making the most of any time you do spend with her is that much more important.
The point being made is that it is not depressing to see a picture of a man who accomplished a lot physically while in their worst shape. He already paid his dues. He could gain 300lbs and it still won’t take away from what he has accomplished. In the end, he’ll die like everyone else.

I think Scott had a booth at the Expo, but he was not there the day we went. I did not see Pearl at all.
Lee Labrada was jacked. He reminded me of a young Jack LaLane.
There were several guys there, but I’ll be damned if I could remember their names.
I will say that I noticed a difference in the “old muscle” and the “new muscle”. Seems the younger guys looked bigger but softer. The old guys were still huge, but it looked like they were much more comfortable carrying their mass than the younger guys - if that makes any sense.
