LOOK AT THAT BENCH!!! I am already looking forward to that sexy bench video.

I’m so glad you are having fun working with those bands. I’m thinking of using them again to do pull up reps without putting too much strain on my bum wrist.[/quote]

what’s worst is that I forgot them in the gym. Hopefuly no one will leave with them - it took me long enough to get them. Funny thing is the bar is so high that I still need to use a step so picture the step and the 2 bands: looked like some torture device. After trying them unnassited these past few weeks I flew up for the chins with the 2 bands on the first set  Had to watch a video on how to use them before heading tp the gym but once I saw it was really easy to get it.

Yes, those bands are an awesome way to build up to chins. Much better than those weight-assisted machines that just take all the stabilization (and, hence, work) out of the pull. Gosh, I hope no one takes your bands!

Note to self: going to bed at 4am and drinking 2 glasses of wine plus a brazilian coffee during supper does not make for a good lifting day. Got to the gym kinda of psyched but crashed and burned within 2 minutes.

Bench
95lbs warm up

140 lbs - ugly, was too tired, not reaching chest, not using leg drive, not keeping core tight just badbadbad.

decided to use this as a deload, have fun with different exercise using high reps.

went home. There will always be tommorow (with more sleep and less alchool).

well Kimba- not sure if this was the sexy bench you had in mind but here’s a vid of my 140lbs 1x5 PR wearing mys smallest pink t-shirt). I don’t think it’s “kosher”, a few of those reps didn’t touch chest, but I should have a better hang of the weight next week. That means I am 5 lbs away from body weight. Let’s put this to a vote:

Does this bench cut it for a PR? If not - nor hard feelings it’s only a question of time:)

For those wondering this is the image on my T -
perfect for chocoholics with a sense of humour

Heh I always felt guilty eating chocolate bunnies as a kid. I used to make sure I bit the head off to give them a quick death.

I always saved the head for last… not sure what that says about me… :stuck_out_tongue:

Nlmain: Maybe all the reps weren’t perfect, but I vote that your PR totally stands! Nice work!

Thanks Blue. I’m planning on nailing it tonight. Won’t film it though because the gym is packed during the week and setup would be hell. I’ll try filming it again this saturday and we can see what an extra week did to form.

Cheers

looked decent to me! your first rep was the strongest and you made it look easy…have you ever tested your 1rm for bench?

I’m not social enough at the gym to get someone to spot me. Maybe someday on a saturday the husband would be willing to spot me in exchange for a steak supper and beer. Who could say no to that?

Today’s workout:

Didn’t eat enough today and felt it at the gym- especially bench.

pullups with bands
5,4,4,3 (longer rest & chit chat)5,3 - added reps and sets.Ggetting there slowly. I had forgotten my bands at the gym but no one had swiped them - hell someone even came over and said: “Oh! that’s what those are for.”

benchpress _ I’ve been really pushing myself on these the last 6 weeks hoping to get to bodyweight (145lbs) by spring. After tonight I realized that I need a full week’s break on those. A bit of a deload.
95lbs 1x5
135lbs 1x2 - felt weak.
115lbs 1x8 1x5
95lbs 1x8

calf raise
135lbs 3x10 -no bounce, added reps

close grip cable row
90lbs 1x8 - added reps
100lbs 1x5 - added reps
90ls 1x5
70lbs 1x8

legpress
275lbs 3x8 - I beleive added weight but I need to verify.

30 mins of rowing 5165 meters. Added 100 meters since last time.

A raw bodyweight bench is such a great goal. And you are close! I might get there someday if I cut out food for a week. Or two.

BTW, you don’t have to be “social” to ask for a spot. Just ask for a spot!

bodyweight bench press; yeah, that’s what I’d like one of these days too.
But I hear you on being nervous about asking for spots (or asking to work in). Eventually you just have to grit your teeth and ask.

why be nervous? you have just as much right to ask as the next guy(or gal)

I thought this was SUPER SEXY. Thanks for the vid! I would count this as a weight PR because the first rep looked perfect to me. A rep PR would now be more than one good rep.

Way to go! That was amazing.

In my experience, any dude will be DELIGHTED to spot a chick. With a spotter, I bet you would have gone for that PR even harder. Try asking just once. If it sucks, you never have to do it again…

Seriously Snap if you stop eating for a week or two you’ll fall through the cracks! For those wondering the 1st time I benched 140lbs I weighed 160lbs (started at no muscle 130lbs) after 2 solid years of slow and steady bulking. Now I’ve lost most of the extra padding and at 145lbs I can bench that 140lbs after 5 months of working up to it again.

Problem is no one asks for spots at my corny mass gym. Everyone kinda fends for themselves. But your right that’s no excuse. Next week I’ll try 145lbs and ask for a spot.

Wow, very nice! I can’t imagine doing that (then again, I hate training abs!)

Nice workout.
