Hey Guys,
We have a really good guy who is a member of our gym whose son is currently on combat duty in Iraq. The last few weeks have been pretty tough on him, with not knowing whether his son is comming back in one piece, but know he seems to be doing a lot better.
The other day he asked me if I knew of any good books that he could send his son about working out.
The only limits are that his son has very limited eqiupment available where he is stationed.
Mark (the guy whose son is in Iraq)was thinking about sending his son a book about bodyweight training.
The only book I could think of was ross enamits book which I thought was really good cause it has programs in it as well as exercises.
Any suggestions please post here or PM me.
thanks
Mike

Mike,
My first question, obviously, would be what equipment does the kid have access to? All kinds of things can be done with a little creativity, as I’m sure you’re aware. A good BW training site I’ve used for my guys is:
trainforstrength.com
Also, if the dad has the funds (or the gym wants to raise them), he might look into sending his son some “portable” equipment (Powerblocks, kettlebells, clubbells etc). If it’s an issue, his son can also look into “standard” military deployed type workouts using issued equipment(heavy rucksacks, sandbags, rifle PT…) Shoot me a PM if you’d like some ideas to pass along.
Being it’s Iraq, if there’s some scraps and such laying around, the kid could talk to the engineers or locals about building some stuff out of scraps… just some ideas we used.
Hope some of it helps.
