so friday morning:
Deadlift:
Was at my shitty gym that has bars with honestly essentially no knurling… Hard to hold onto… Forgot my straps… and my chalk…
245x3
275x3
315x3
335x3
365 4x2
385x2
Conventional:
225 3x3
Lol… I hate conventional… Might start doing more of it. Sumo’s were a bit slow, only because I had to focus super hard on actualy holding onto the bar. Nonetheless, these are in facts PR’s with that bar so clearly my grip strength is mroe than sufficient. I would say 385x2 with this bar means my grip strength is good for over 600 of a good bar with chalk.

Damn, that’s awesome.
Nice session man, regardless of what you forgot. Looking forward to this weeks DL session, half pulls and pulls from blocks

Want to learn a secret? Sheiko never intended people to pull to knees then terminate and lower to the floor. He intended you to pull to knees, pause, then finish the lift. WHy would you practice lifting halfway then ‘failing’?
So friday PM:
Went in and fiddled with the bar for 20 minutes doing olympic style movements. I was mostly practicing my shoulder mobility to overhead squat and wrist mobility to get into the clean position. Then I did rack pulls from just below the knee conventional: 135x50 hahahaha. Fun fun. Just was bored.

Seriously? I’ve seen that in another log, but didn’t know that they were intended all along to pause and finish the rep. I never thought of it as failing, I just though that was the way to do it. It makes sense though. Thanks
Well that as a fucking lot of weight! I am quite happy with the weight though. Unfortunately i think I shoulda got a s/s shirt because I am having a really tough time getting the shirt to touch high enough. The first 205 was bellybuttom practically and the 2nd was a bit better but I fought with it for like 6 seconds to touch the 1bd… Will be losin a few pounds and practicing wiht it so that will make like easier. Hopefully will be able to hit 205 to the chest by my meet in January and maybe 220kg for nationals? That would make my life hahaha.
Forgot to mention that after that shirted work yesterday I did:
Bench with ~60lb of chain:
125kg 3x2
Then sunday:
Squat:
215 x5
255 x4 belt
285 x4 wraps
345 2x3 bottoms
435 x2
466 2x2
486 x2
Squats felt poor until the suit came on. Then felt very good. Speed was excellent at the 486 set. Pleased with this. Will now only be doing light work this week and will do a meet walkthrough on next saturday
Well was so bored that I went in again with a buddy who was pestering me:
Conventional Deadlifts:
135 3x10
225 3x10
Bent over Rows: 225 2x5
Walking backwards 15mins 1.5mph 7% incline
Messing around with the 45lb/95lb doing cleans and snatches just to stretch and practice driving hips. I think learning the hip drive will help my sumo deadlift lockout. Then I left. Nothing strenuous but I think will be beneficial to keep adding in some conventionals.
So wednesday morning:
Bench:
185 2x3
225 2x3
250 3x2
295 2x1
Did the 295 sets just to evaluate how recovered I am. Speed was not where I want it to be. This is dissapointing. I feel that this is because I have been doing too much accessory work. I will stop doing that and focus all my effort on my core lifts starting next week.
Ok so saturday. Woke up feeling like shit! Still went well:
Squat:
70kg x6
100kg x4
120kg x2
150kg x2 - belt/wrap
180kg x2 - belt/wrap
200kg x2 - bottoms
230kg x1 - bottoms
250kg x1 - straps
260kg x1 - straps
272.5kg x1 - straps *This ties current Canadian national record
Pretty happy. Had probably another 7.5kg in the tank give or take. Quite happy given how shitty I felt. Might be looking to hit 290kg even in January if training goes well.
Bench:
Warm up…
140kg x1 - raw PR lol
170kg x1 - 3bd
200kg x1 - 1bd
150 2x1 - trying to get to chest
170 2x1 - got the 2nd to my chest
180 x1 - to chest
Not bad. Managed to touch so thats good. Weights will get heavier soon…
No time to DL… The gym was closing. Will DL tomorrow!
You smoked those squats man, awesome. You’re not only going to break the record, you’re going to destroy it and set the bar pretty high for anyone else in the future.
Thanks guys. The squat is definitely my favourite and thus my best lift.
Unfortunately deadlifting on sunday didn’t go so well…
warm up…
Bottoms:
455 x1
Straps up:
485 x1
505 x1
515 x1 - Maybe… Lockout was iffy and it probably wouldn’t pass in a contest. Sigh…
And trying to start a new cycle today… That went even worse lol… ABISMAL!
Bench:
185 x5
225 x4 - hmmm that was much too hard…
245 3x3 - gahhhh
265 4x3 - slightly better but still… shoulda been able to do 295 with less struggle. FML… Partially still tired from weekend lfiting and partially I haven’t slept more than 6hr these past 3 nights. Will be back stronger tomorrow for 2nd round of benchin.
So tuesday AM:
squats:
215 x5
255 x4 belt
285 x4 wraps
345 x3
415 x3 bottoms
466 x3
486 4x3
Pretty solid. Belt is loosened so the suit was slipping through… Thats a problem. Will tighten it. Speed was fine for these sets though so I will keep this as my 80% sets. In 2 weeks I will probably just make it an even 5 plates.
Sooo tuesday PM:
Close grip bench:
185 x5
225 2x5
260 x5,4
250 x4
230 2x4
GAHHHH! I am very pissed off right now. Don’t know why everything is falling apart. I guess it is because as a friend said to me “i look like death”… Due to not sleeping much and being a dummy on my diet. Need to fix that… Ahhhh well… coulda been worse (like yesterday…)
Military press: 135lb 5x3 - meh… Good weight but way too hard
Pendlay rows: 135lb 3x10 - pleased. This is getting better.
Also fiddled with the 135lb doing some high bar, no hands squats for fun hahahaha… Hope to do 500lb no hand squat before I die lol. Currently my biggest problem is that I am a little bitch and it hurts my neck to hold the bar high bar because I have literally never done it before. Ahhh anyways… Tonight = good sleep. Tomorrow = good sleep. Up until worlds in 2012 = good sleep. And startign now I intend to get my diet in check again and start dropping like only 2lb per month so I am 185 in the AM by my next meet. This is my November 29th resolution. Hopefully I stick to it. I hate losing progress in the gym. makes me cry inside like a little girl.
