Still trying to get back into a real training groove…1.12.09
Power clean/press: 2x8@ 90
5x5@ 135
Deads: 2x5@225…5x5@ 315 (straps)
Chins: 5x5 (weak)
Dips : 5x12 alt. with the chins. And some abs, nothing to great, but I’ll take it.

Good job on the restraint. Ive never been one to thrash someone just because I could. Oh on the work out too.

Solid session, Z.
Glad to read no beat-down was performed. Hopefully the guy will have woken the next day and realized he could have gotten hurt. Kudos to you for remaining civilized.
So I’m sore 'cause I’ve been so lazy these days…real sharp. Hope to be back later…
me too z! me too…
nothin’ to do but work thru it
Lower body ect…1.14.09
Back squat (no really) 2x8@ 135
5x5@ 185…weak.
Power shrug/calf raise: 4x8@ 135
alt. with RDL : 4x12@ 135
leg extension 4x12@ 65
alt. with standing crunch 4x8@ 75
lying curl 4x8@ 65
alt. with ab wheel 4x12…backside is sore, quads not so much.
1.16.09 Upper body stuff ect.
Flat bench 4x12 @ 135
alt. with DB thrusters 4x12@ 40’s
Incline hammer press 4x8@ 60’s
alt. with 2-arm bent row 4x8@ 60’s
High pull 4x8@ 90
alt. with bench dip 4x12
rope crunch and rotational holds, didn’t really count, but went heavy to failure.
1.17.09 Just trying to move a little.
Single-leg stuff, walking lunges, farmers walks (50ish steps with 90’s times 4)…
Front squats: 4x8@ 135
dips 4x8@ BW
IronCross holds 4 times @ 20’s to failure
ab wheel 4x8 or 10?
Pushup DB rows 4x8@ 60’s…Pretty much went from being lazy-sore to being over did it-sore. Real sharp. Lower body is tight as hell, shoulders and traps are popping as well (hey I’m rapping)! Word.
I live, work and play all in the same neighborhood. A “fishbowl” if you will. Drunk dude from the other night, turns out he got jumped and broke 2 fingers. How do I know this? When he told two buddies at a local bar, I was sitting a few stools away! I don’t think I would have recognized him, and he dam sure didn’t know who I was, but I’m certain it was the same dude from the story he told.
I don’t remember feeling the breaks, I beleive he did that hitting the ground. If he ever finds that guy “he’s in big trouble”. Really? I kept my mouth shut (a miracle really) and left soon after. Big trouble for Z-man? I don’t think so.
Its funny you know. When I was much younger (dont drink now) when I got drunk, if I caught a beating because I let my mouth overload my butt, I just took my lumps. Today its always someone elses fault. He got jumped, come on. Agian good job on the restraint. Lookn strong. Im pretty strong on some lifts, and I still dont see how in the world your doing some of that stuff. WTG.
63G- Thanks for the thoughts. I’m curious though, what stuff are you wondering about? I think it may look odd sometimes because I don’t know the correct name for something! That happens with most you guys often when I go though your posts…I’m still catching up.
Training today…all over the place.
sumo deads, ab wheel, pushup rows, high rear cross…high reps, low rest for about 4 circuts, got that sick feeling…5 min. break.
power clean/ bent row : 6each @ 135x4
(superset)
Standing crunch/ power shrug: 8@135x 4
(superset)
hammer press/ 2arm bent row: 2x8@ 60
2x6@ 70…
that combo is just nasty every time…then some odd floor work for abs ect. Nice.
VOLUME MY MAN, VOLUME. I just dont see how in the world you do it.
I do love the VOLUME, but I AM a drummer so…I’ll tell you, I work pretty quickly when I’m using supersets, high-reps ect…short rest (60 sec. or less)as a rule. But the heavier stuff I’ll slow down for sure. Most people I (we all) see, have no idea how much time they rest when they train. It’s always one of the first things I set up when I work with someone, and it always serves me well in my training. GODSPEED. Lower body tuesday…gee I can’t wait.
Sore on top, sore on the bottom…may as well try some more back squats…
Lots of warm-up, single leg stuff, lunges ect…
Front squat: 2x8@ 135
Back squat: 2x8@135
5x3@225…interesting. Got better as I went along. So lacking all common sense I… 1 @ 275
1 @ 275 PR, needless to say. I’ll give it about an 8 out of 10! got down to not-quite-low-enough…DAM! Had the pins set, But I knew if I touched them, I’d be stuck! But I’ll take it. throw is a little rear-delt flys, cable crunch, leg extensions…that’s it.
I hope your all happy, now I’ve got to keep doing the back squat like all the “cool kids”. Fine then. Maybe wensday I’ll just deadlift 500 while I’m at it…

Nice PR! You experienced the recovery in warmup. Once they get some blood going through them they can remove the waste products that were causing the soreness.
Keep it up!
Excellent. The way I see it: unless your going to compete 1 inch dont matter. Do you know how many guys cant even put that on their back? Most guys in the gym would crumble. And the more you do, the more youll be able to do. Outstanding job.

What? I thought we were here to insult each other, make everyone miserable with insipid posts and wave our cocks around flaunting our superiority and He-Man-ness?..
Oh, I forgot, this is the old bastards forum, sorry!/![]()

I think that was a compliment…?
BlackS…you reached way to the back of my posting closet for that one, I don’t even REMEMBER the workout I did, now I’m curious…
Thanks for the thoughts guys, I’m thinking that I can “better form” my way to 300 easy, with a few more sessions of practice.
Front squating really drives the depth into my brain though, which is hard to get over. No matter, gonna crank it up again friday in the power rack, and be on my way.
Not-quite-old bastards of the world UNITE!!! Oh yeah, I pushed yesterday....
1.21.09 Push this!
warm-up blah, blah…
Pin press: 2x8 @ 135
5@ 155
5@ 185
5@155
2@ 185, 3x2@205
3x5@ 185
2x8@ 135…alt. with some abs here and there.
Chins 5x5 with dips 2x8@25, 3x6@45. Always a nasty combo @ 60sec. rest.
low incline hammer alt with
2-arm bent row…4x8@ 60 (for both)
It was a lot of work, but I didn’t have anything else to do…felt good.
