Interracial Couple Denied Marriage in LA

What is your definition of typical / average? Just because someone asks a question about a double standard does not mean they are racists. I was just trying to ask the question.

I didn’t say you were racist, nor did I intend to imply that.

I will admit I am white, but I am trying to understand, which will be hard because I am white, why everything has to be black and white. I ask a question and your first response was not why did you make that statement? Your first response was the typical person that makes that point is usually a racist.

Right, I stated an observation. Nothing more.

There are racists and that is a fact, but not all typical / average people are racists.

No, but people that are obsessed with the double standard typically are. Not everyone is obsessed with the double standard.

We are just individuals going about our day trying to have a good life. We should try to understand each other before we make accusations. You feel one way about the OP’s post and others feel another way.

Is there anything that could make this black and white go away? We need to come up with solutions and not place names on other people.

I agree. And you would think a black man being elected president would go a long way to help the situation. But so far, it only seems to fuck it up more, and it isn’t even his fault, but other idiots running their mouth.
You would think that a black man being president would go a long way. What I perceive is that the people that do not like him dont like him because of his politics and has nothing to do with his race. Which i hope is a step in the right direction.

I actually heard the other day on the news that Obama being elected might help the African American Republicans in the next election. I have to admit that if a persons politics are in line with mine or is willing to listen to me then I will vote for them.

This question is serious? Why is Jessica Alba fine? Gee, I bet I could give you at least 20 reasons why she is and her race has little to do with it.

X, You’ve really got to learn to let shit like this go man. I think your going to have a heart

attack with all the damn race arguing on this forum. If people choose to be dumb, just fucking

let them man. No amount of e-yelling is going to change anyones opinion, and i think your just

letting stupid people get the best of you.

Sorry fella. But this isn’t a phenomenon of my imagination. In fact, it’s a rather common utterance when interracial relationships are discussed. That interracial children are unommonly good-looking. Anyone pretending they’ve never heard these statements is a liar, or doesn’t get out of the house much. What’s funny about this, is I’m not even disagreeing [Edit: Though I’m not agreeing either, on a personal level.] I’m actually agreeing that there’s seems to be, more often than not, an agreement that mixed children are seen as physically beautiful to a degree worthy of note by a good many people. At least I hear it often enough to arrive at that conclusion.

This is retarded. So if I say that many mixed girls were the finest in the class, you take this as meaning that mixed races ALL end up in genetically enhanced humans as far as beauty?

Gee, do they still make Dunce Caps?

“…mixed races ALL end up…” I neither said this, or claim that anyone else has said this. You’re a very emotional man.

The more correct term is “passionate” and that is very much what you implied by questioning the statement made earlier…as if I was saying that being mixed means you are more prone to be beautiful. I am not sure why you are backstepping now.

Stating that many of the mixed girls I knew were pretty growing up does not equal “mixed girls are more prone to beauty”. You made that connection, no one else.

Either way, the fact still stands that the only people who seem to see all of this race hatred towards mixed people seem to be very outwardly racist themselves.

“Hell, if anything, mixed girls 'were often the finest girls in the class.”

At which point I ASKED, “Why are mixed girls some of the finest? As in they can be “fine?” Or, that they are more often “fine?” I hear this alot, but sometimes it comes off as if mixed children are actually being placed above their peers in the looks department.”

I specifically asked for clarification. This is supported by the fact that I didn’t call you a dunce, a racist, or make any statement about your motivations or personal beliefs. I didn’t something you failed to do, converse passionately, yet without all the emotional baggage. And no, you’re emotional, not passionate.

I actually think there is some merit to the “mixed kids are cuter” idea. I think certain “Mixes” if you will, end up producing very pleasing combos of traits, especially when you get the in-between (mocha?) skin tones with blue/light colored eyes. I think this can be a very attractive combo, maybe more so because it is uncommon. Also like a girl who is a very dark-haired brunette but has very blue eyes. If you’ve ever met a girl like that, you know what I’m talking about (maybe its just me). If she’s attractive at all, that combo pushes her over the edge to special.
I’m going to agree with this, and I think the reason is simple: perception. Oftentimes, people are very attracted to what they–whoever “they” is–consider exotic or unique. It stands out. A unique mix of genes from two very different phenotypes will tend to produce a unique phenotype with a more distinct look.

I don’t think this matters at all in a cosmic sense or in the context of the discussion about a very racist person in LA, just what I tend to notice. I think in general the idea that people gravitate towards unique and ‘exotic’ looks explains why people get the way they do about whatever combination of looks they enjoy the most–eg. Asian, african, french, blonde, brunette, whatever.
Professor X wrote:

I actually already touched on this. If someone were to ask why Hale Berry is beautiful to me, my answer would not involve her mixed race background AT ALL. Why? Because it doesn’t matter. What is beautiful about her, while possibly due to so many different ethnic backgrounds coming together and making such a wonderful ass, is not because of race but because of how all of those features look together.

I would guess that if a girl walked past who had green eyes, a booty like J-Lo, and long hair with a skin tone like mocha ice cream, not one dude here is going to truly give a shit how many races came together to create her…unless they are some idiotic racist who makes life judgments based on such issues.

For the record, this fictional woman could equally be all black.

There are traits of beauty and much of what we find beautiful is culturally influenced…one more reason Barbie catches so much hell because she stands as a symbol of ultimate beauty even though so few women look anything like that.

Most people find an even skin tone to be attractive. - I have known one VERY DARK cheerleader in college who had the most perfect skin tone I have ever seen. It was like silk.

Most people find lighter colored eyes to be attractive or different - again not related to any one race.

Anyone narrowing all of this down to say that it simply relates to “mixed races” is missing the point.

Maybe one could say that mixing races increases the diversity of the gene pool creating a more phenotypically well rounded individual.
Never mind, X explained it much more nicely.

Ok but lets not pretend that race and sexual orientation are even in any regard closely related. Not even can you say that they are related because they are and were both hated at some point in time. Why can’t we just be honest with ourselves are drop all the social equality bullshit. As a white man I feel quite widely discriminated against due to certain established platforms, i.e.: Affirmative Action, NAACP, etc…

Why is it popular now to feel like black people should be given every single opportunity, even at the expense of a smarter, harder working white male.

Another thing, don’t say you do not get truly disgusted when seeing a homosexual male couple walking down the street together, or even if they come into your place of work and oogle you…

Well you don’t choose your race or sexual orientation.

And i’ve been propositioned for a threesome by a guy and his boyfriend… I don’t really see what’s gross. People are who they are. Take it as a compliment.

My girl was sitting in her soc 101 class and her professor brought up the issue " driving while black". this white girl bust out laughing as if someone made a joke. she seriously didn’t know that was true or had ever even heard of it. 2009 and tons of ignorance still floating around. the information age isn’t helping that much.

I spent some time in the South and it was a very rude awakening. There is still a lot of polarization in certain areas of the south. This really doesn’t surprise me horribly and he is not completely wrong about how interracial children are treated in those areas. I don’t agree with him or his decision.

I talked to a dude a few years ago from Altoona PA and he told us after a few beers that “there aint no ni*#er within thirty miles of Altoona” What an asshole. My point is, you don’t have to go south to find shitheads like him.
I Live in Rochester NY (western new york state) and all i have to do is drive 10 mins out of the city to find people like that.

Well, I think a good many (honestly, I believe majority) white liberals have embraced a rather destructive and cynical view of the minority. As if they’re the praise-worthy nobles who can count on the support of their subjects in exchange for bread and circus. Perhaps basking in the accolades they recieve for racially conscious generosity (with other people’s money).

Useful, but that doesn’t mean they want the peasantry living in their gated royal grounds, or flocking to the same schools as their noble born sons, or dating their daughters. And, Conservative values of self-governance are anathema to their power. After all, what would they have to offer a self reliant people whose most cherished governing body is the intact family? But, the white liberal knows Conservatism is on life support, and that they have the opportunity to pull the plug. The demographic trends in this country point to a permanent one party system. Unless left, and further left, can’t keep it together.

I ask you, what DOES the conservative have to offer troubled minority populations? And I do mean troubled, with a capital T. Out of of wedlock birth rates, violent crime completely out proportion (the most dangerous person for a black man today, by far, is a black man), high school drop out rates, generational dependency. The social negatives are way out of proportion. Folks here will attack me for bringing this stuff up. Even though it’s based on cold hard fact.

Here’s the dirty little secret, too. It has to be discussed now. Majority white America is going bye-bye. If things don’t start turning around rapidly, these dependency programs will come crashing down in bankruptcy anyways. Do we really believe a majority with a higher rate of those social negatives is going to be able to fund these things anywhere near the extent they are today? We’re all seeing them rapidly outstrip our ability to fund them, as it is. Keep your eye on Medicare and SS.

So, how does Conservatism (the real conservatism) address this? It can’t, directly. Neither can the white liberal, at all. All the white liberal can do is help subsidize destructive trends, replace fathers with checks, and shush anyone who speaks too forcfully about the decay of traditional morals that provided man with the guidelines for sustainable self governance. And in the end, not have to worry about the future of his ideology and party.

well lets take a look at few of my favorites. Girls from Brazil are mixed with indigenous people from south america along with Africans and Portuguese. Almost instant marriage material to me. Now how about Ricans? Can anyone say J-lo??? Same mixture combination this time its Spanish, Africans and the Indigenous people of the island of Puerto Rico and those are some damn fine girls too.

seeing that I am happy to live where I am. When I was in high school there was so few different people that when there was somebody who was black, arab or asian it made them a little bit more interesting.

That is how I viewed it anyway. But there is always some really dumb people who don’t like what is different.
