Lmao! 2009 and we still have ignorance like this floating around. What’s your take on this?
My take : I’m mixed, married and my kids are mixed too…soooooooo i don’t get it. I mean seriously. How can we allow people to keep this types of jobs knowing that their ignorance towards someone’s race can effect their judgement and put other people in some real bad positions based on that.

“I’m not a racist. I just don’t believe in mixing the races that way,” Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. “I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else.”

LOL. Racism isn’t dead. It just isn’t as visible.
That made me laugh too. Gotta admire his conviction even though he is going to get fired. Reminds me of Walt from Grand Torino. Although Walt would at least have the balls to admit he is a racist. And then call you a name based on what nationality you are.

“They are free to use our glassware and drink from the same faucet as we do. We don’t discriminate. Our coloured friends are even welcome to sit on our sofa, as long as it isn’t the leather one, and watch television alongside us. Darkies, Injuns, Chinees, Dagos…we are friends with them all…no discrimination whatsover.”

i don’t agree with it. i think he’s stuck in the past.
I spent some time in the South and it was a very rude awakening. There is still a lot of polarization in certain areas of the south. This really doesn’t surprise me horribly and he is not completely wrong about how interracial children are treated in those areas. I don’t agree with him or his decision.
I think what this guy did is wrong, so please dont take this the wrong way. What if this was the other way around? A black man not wanting to marry a white man and black woman, or a black man and white woman, take your pick. Would this even be reported on? Racism goes both ways. We only hear about the racism that the white man perpitrates.

Too many folks missed the point of Walt’s ‘racism’. It was a statement on how feminized and sensitive we as a society have become.
First, correct me if I’m wrong but it’s not this guy’s place to push his personal opinions onto other people in his job. He should be fired for that alone.
This is the attitude that people need to get rid of. People claim to not be racist then say things like this. My black friends and white friends are pretty much the same (except for how the women fix their hair, that shit is complicated). This separate societies/teams mentality only exists for racist people.
Sadly one of my family members gave me the same crap that this guy said when I was talking to them about women. My previous girlfriend and current girlfriend are both black and they are the best women I’ve dated so far.

It’s rare enough that I’m not sure there’s many opportunities for a conflict to occur.

You can’t be serious. After all of the hell surrounding Rev Wright, you think people would ignore this if a black man wouldn’t marry an interracial couple?
I live in the south and I never saw mixed kids being treated any different than anyone else. Hell, if anything, mixed girls were often the finest girls in the class.
Shit, until Wesley Snipes hit the scene, El Debarge and “beige brothers” were getting more ass than anyone else.
