Are you pulling the slack out of the bar? It’s hard to tell.
What I think of is pulling the slack out of the bar, then pulling my shoulders behind the bar and pulling my hips down until I feel a ton of tension in my hams and hips and can squeeze and pop the bar off the ground. I don’t know if that will make sense to anyone but me, but it’s the way I think of it.[/quote]
Exactly what I was going to say just read through to check no one else had said it!
When you setup, pull up on the bar very slightly. You will feel a slight give. This is what you want to remove.
This will also make it easy to keep your shoulders back and chest up.

Good point.
For me, pulling the slack out of the bar as I rock myself back into my starting position helps alot, and keeps it one fluid motion, rather than jerking the slack out and then trying to pull.
I think the more I think about my form the worse it gets haha. Thanks for all the advice people. I felt shitty at first because I thought I was an awesome deadlifter, now I just feel like a tard. YES call the waaambulance on me. Though I am determined to fix this. A lot of people have suggested I sumo deadlift because I am only 5 feet tall, maybe that’s a better stance for me. BUT i never really felt that strong that way. WE’ll see how this goes…
