I have tried bands but I almost never use them to push the punch. I have pulled back on them and let go and tried to catch them, not easy. I’ve also pulled back, held onto the band but relaxed as described above.
Mostly though I like to wrap the band around a poll and grab it with two hands, palm to palm and rotate hard and push the bands out. I find this helps a little with the hook rotation. It’s still all just little things I do in addition to oly lifts, conditioning, and of course, punching.
