Hello everyone! I’ve been a lurker on tese forums for about 10 days now and can tell that most peple here are have tons of knowledge about how to do things the right way and hence am seeking your help on how to get results.
Two years ago I started working out and was in decent shape but about a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with a health problem relating to my eyes and was put on steroids for about 8 months during witch I was not allowed to workout whatsoever. Over this period I put on about 45 pounds and lost 13 over the last year. Now, I jsut graduated from college and have a lot of free time and am motivated to go whatever that needs to be done to lose weight (yes, I have a beer belly and man boobs), get lean and cut and oneday have a six pack.
About me:
Height: 5’9"
Weight: 176.6 lbs
Chest:42"
Waist: 34"
What weight training regiment do you recommend?
What do you recommend for cardio?
What suppkements (is any) do you recommend?
(taking creatine and XS whey at the moment)
What diet should I follow?
I know people would have asked this already but I would greatly appreciate yout input.
O.K first off congrats for having the courrage to post. Second, what have you learned from this site in ten days… Probably not that much. Many of us here have been lifting for the better part of our lives on a consistant basis, and we still aren’t sure of what the best way to train is… we only know for sure what works for us.
What I’m trying to say is, you will not get any easy answers here. You have to go out there and try it for yourself.
Here, we can guide you. Start by reading as many articles as you can from the respected authors here at T-Nation. (Shugart, Waterbury, Thib, Berardi etc…)
Next set yourself some goals… “I want to loose weight, get cut, and have a six pack” isn’t going to cut it.
Quantify and specify. I want to loose x pounds in x amount of time. Keeping it realistic. What is realistic you ask? For a beginner: gain or loose 1-3 pounds / week.
Next set yourself up with an action plan. From all those great articles that you will be reading over the next couple of days you will undoubtably come across a situation that resembles yours and a program suited to the goals that you have set.
Next (and this is the toughest part… ready… GO TO THE GYM AND STICK TO IT!)
No excuses! The motivation must come from you.
Now I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but I am willing to bet that this will be a hard challenge for you to complete. You may seek other people’s advice and dismiss this as BS… your choice. But regardless of what respectable, sound program and nutrition plan you opt for, you will have to put in the effort to lift, yourself.
