Improving the Forums

The forums are riddled with threads that are not related to BB. The majority of topics that relate to training/nutrition are filled with posters who base arguments on “bro-knowledge” and often have no scientific evidence to back up their statements.

I am not here to put down the T-Nation forums, I just think their is room for improvement. My suggestion to T-Nation staff is to encourage their authors, contributors and possibly Pro BB/Powerlifter’s to consistently post on the boards. These educated posters need to create interesting threads on nutrition, BB shows, new research and any thing related to BB/Powerlifting!

The forums need to be revamped with legitimate knowledgeable posters. I love these boards, I just hope T-Nation is willing to make them better and more educational.

They are sure to get better now!

Try checking over in the bodybuilding or strength forums, because I dont think GAL is your cup of tea…

Try hitting them.

Then stick it in it’s butt.

Synthol.

Atually on second thought, before we can help you sir, we need to know how much you squat.

Oh and pics of the wheels plz.

On slashdot and YouTube, people can rate individual posts. On YouTube in particular, it’ll average out the rating of each video (in our case, topic). Maybe that’ll help here?

I knew the moderators of the website were really waiting for your input and opinions about the message boards. I’m sure they’ll jump right on all the rampant problems you discussed, because that is FOR SURE priority number one - especially coming from you, who has proven and showcased more about yourself than anyone else on these boards.

Or, you could man up, stop bitching, or go somewhere else if you don’t like the boards.

It’s threads like THESE that are ruining the site.

It’s called the Get A Life section, as in miscellaneous.

I’m not worried about the GAL section that is clearly for off topic threads.

I’m suggesting the T-Nation simply ask their authors and contributors to post more consistently on all sections of the forums.

They would steer discussions in the right direction and make for a more interesting forums.

With the amount of users/posts T-Nation has, you can’t expect to have intelligent questions that haven’t already been answered to make up the majority of threads. It would be possible to do that with some hardcore moderation, but a large percentage of people would stop posting.

Bodybuilding forums aren’t exactly known for intelligent discussion. T-Nation is actually one of the better ones.

I would think that the contributors have more to do than hang around, posting in the forums. The other thing is, you’re interacting with people who may have real life experiences and have a lot to contribute, along with people who do not.

I think the guys on T-Nation do a pretty good job with what they have.

Just my 2 cents.

T-Nation is defiantly unique in the sense of its daily articles. But compared to other Weightlifting boards, the discussion aren’t up to par.

I understand the this site is much larger than the other forums but that does not mean quality discussion cannot occur. It would not be difficult to improve the situation, simply ask authors to post more!

How could they possibly give more time? they write free articles! and don’t forget the free advice they give in the author locker room.
they have lives, and work commitments. It seems doubtful that they could really moderate the forums in the way you are suggesting.

Thats what the T-Cell is for.

The problem is that there’s a bunch of idiots running around who won’t use the search function… for whatever reason. Whether it’s because they’re think much more special than the previous 1,000 people that had the same question (Cut or Bulk?, Creatine?, How to gain muscle and not lose my abz?)

These same people then go ahead to give others advice on what they should be doing, often times with no credibility behind their statements whatsoever. No profile pictures, stats, or much about them at all is known (Strength4Life.)

These also have driven away most of the people on the site that are actually serious about having discussions. Hell, I know I’ve only been around the boards for a little over a year and a half and I’ve seen the same shit over and over, I can’t imagine what those who have been here for even longer feel.

It seems like in the last few years there’s been an influx of a health-craze, most of which leads to misinformation and blanket assumptions (ecto, meso, endomorphic body types) that are shoved down people’s throats through the mass media. I’m sure that has reflected heavily on the message boards and, again, I’ve even seen it in my short time around here.

So, to respond to your question (which I doubt the mods will,) it’s probably not going to get any better. This message board is funded mostly through Biotest, I assume. As long as sales stay up and steady, there’s no reason to mess with what isn’t broken. I’m also willing to be those experienced members who have left are still buying supplements from the company.

For me, I always check the Bodybuilding forum (or body “toning” forum as it’s become,) Supplements and Nutrition, Get A Life, and the T-Cell. All else are generally a waste of my time. Find what you enjoy, and if you’re not finding yourself enjoying the forum anymore, leave.

The fact is that after being here for any length of time you’ll come to realize that there just isn’t all that much to discuss that hasn’t already been discussed 6000 times over.

If the boards only contained new intelligent discussion i think you would be very surprised at how few topics and posts there’d be.

To grow Biotest they need new people to come to the boards and buy supplements, new people will have new stupid questions. The more new people the better Biotest is actually doing.

Ok, you can simply pay the contributors more.

They get paid to write articles. They’re some of the best in the business. Do you think they’ve got a lot of free time?

You’re already getting free articles and good advice from some members here.

Now shut the fuck up.

Edit:

Also, YOU are complaining about how the forums are stupid. Imagine what the contributors think.
