My knees weren’t feeling to great today so I played it safe and just stopped here.

Didn’t have time for much because I had to squeeze this in before work today. But I wasn’t used to training this early so I didn’t have the energy for much anyway. Still got a decent session in, though. At this point (2 weeks out) I’m not expecting to add much strength so as long as I’m training I’m happy lol.

NOTES: This was all I had time for. Squats felt GREAT, though. I had no knee pain at the end of the session. I focused a lot more on starting the descent with my knees out, getting out of the hole with my knees out, and finishing with my knees out. Looks like I did a lot better in the video, and everything as a whole just felt better. Feeling ready to kill it next Saturday!

Good job on those squats. I have the same problem with knee’s caving in- I really have to focus on pushing them out throughout to have productive sets!

@jake: I can feel a lot of difference when I’m able to keep my knees out. I need to work on it more but it’s starting to feel decent at least

D) V-Bar Pulldowns

NOTES: Feeling pretty good right now. Right now I’m really just doing whatever I feel like in the gym because I realize I’m not going to add 30 lbs to my lifts 12 days out. I’m just getting in a decent stimulus each day and making sure I’m fresh for the meet. Looking forward to next Saturday!

NOTES: I felt pretty crummy coming in. But, I told a buddy that was there something like “I’m not feeling to amazing, but I tend to have my best sessions on days like this” and it turned out to be true. I flew through the first round of deadlifts, and had some pretty decent benching as well. I think this will be my last actual heavy session, and it will be mostly form work and recovery from here on out. Looking forward to next Saturday!!

I’ve been doing some singles around my openers the past few days. I hit 405 twice and it was MUCH better today. I also hit 325 paused bench today very easily. I haven’t done any heavy deadlifting, just because I’m pretty sure I knowhow my numbers will go and I don’t want to pull too heavy this close to the meet. I’m feeling GREAT right now and ready to bring it! 3 more days!!

So close! Ready to see you crush it.

Me too me too!!

Who’s ready to get tone?! Leaving for my meet now!! I’ll have a video up later tonight or tomorrow morning, but I’ll have the results posted later.

That’s hot!

Kill it.

Good luck at the meet man looking forward to seeing the results.

Kill it man. Know you’ll dominate

Logged back onto T-Nation just to express publicly my jealousy towards these photos.

Also, I have the weirdest boner.

Thanks, guys! I lol’d, bug.

1st Place 198 Class USAPL Meet
BW 196.75
Wilks Total 408

Squat
1st Attempt: 395
2nd Attempt: 425
3rd Attempt: 455 20 lb PR

Bench
1st Attempt: 315
2nd Attempt: 335
3rd Attempt: 345 miss

Deadlift
1st Attempt: 555
2nd Attempt: 585
3rd Attempt: 610 25 lb meet PR, 10 lb all-time PR

Overall it was a great day and I’m very pleased with the results. I hit my goal of 1,400 so I’m very happy! I set a new USAPL record in each lift for Kansas’ junior 198 class (even beat the equipped deadlift record and equipped total record), and the Kansas 198 open class records for deadlift and total, so I’m extremely pleased with that. Although, it really doesn’t mean much lol, but very cool nonetheless.

Squats felt great. I was worried that squatting on carpet was going to throw me off, but as soon as I had unracked 395 I completely forgot about it. Something went wrong on 425 and I looked down at the bottom of the lift (it was so awkwardly quiet during the attempt it threw me off haha) but I got myself prepared mentally and knew I would hit 455 as soon as I unracked it. I’m pretty happy about that because I haven’t squatted anything over 415 since my last meet, and even the 415 I hit a few weeks ago was vary slow.

Bench was terrible. The benches were pretty low to the ground, which I’m not used to, and I just wasn’t able to get my feet planted and get tight like I normally can. I was really bummed because the benches we warmed up on were better, and I thought I was going to hit an easy 355 before my first attempt.

Deadlifts felt pretty great, I guess there’s not much to say. I got into a whole different world before my 610 attempt. I had honestly forgotten where I was. I knew I had to pull 610 to get my goal of 1,400 for the day, so it was a good feeling to lock it out. Oh, and the guy who was supposed to load plates had to leave, so my little brother stepped in. It felt good to have him standing there.

THE KING!

Enjoyed the write up man. Awesome to have a some records under your belt and your squat edge ever nearer to the beastly deadlift. 455 is very good squat for 198, it would be very close to british drug-free record over here for 20-23 class.

You need to work on bringing those British records up, because my squat is weak haha. Thanks, man! Was the video blocked for you?

Not blocked in Denmark so I guess he can view it as well.

As I’ve already said multiple times great job.
